Very hot here and no air conditioning. Taking Flagyl and Cipro for abscess and fistula while I wait for doc consult for surgery/biologics. Started 2nd antibiotic course until I see doc. Suddenly now have skin patches, round with a little pistule in the center, stings to touch and itches until dry. There is a little seepage. Using nystatin powder and fans (for cooling) drys them out, but am having little ones popping up on my lower tummy fold and upper thigh now. Anyone have this problem and is this just a yeast/fungal issue? I have never had skin lesions with my Crohns before.

Hi. I get lots of skin issues around and under the wafer in the hot weather. I get yeast infection, rashes, etc. The nurse had my doc write a script for a puffer. I puff the skin, put on stoma powder and dab with skin prep. I also change more often in the hot weather. I'd suggest seeing an ET nurse for an assessment and treatment.

Thanks. I have had very little skin problems in the past, but not used to not having air conditioning and I think the meds are messing up my ph. Puffer? Puffs air?. My nyatatin poweder is in a bottle that I squeeze. Is this a puffer?

Sorry no. Should have said inhaler (asthma sufferers use them). It's steroid based which helps with skin problems.

Something else you could try is good old mercurochrome as it helps to dry the skin out and is also antiseptic. It contains mercury so don't use too much but is fine for a short while. Other helpful tips may be found in the following thread by Jaano711. I have tagged Jaano711 so she can add anything else. Good luck.
