I am curious if anyone has made a decent frosting/icing that was lactose-free and sugar-free (more specifically, made with stevia or honey)

I tried making some the other night with Tofutti cream cheese, and it turned out tasting and smelling like glue.

I really need stevia powdered sugar. Do they make something like that?

I'm sure I've seen one while looking at SCD recipes on the net. Not using Stevia, but it sounded quite good. Will post link if I ever find it again!

If it's sugar and lactose free is it still frosting? :cookie:

I kid, I kid. For what it's worth, powdered sugar is just really fine regular sugar (although commercially they add some non-sticking agents I believe).

One can make powdered sugar at home by putting normal granulated sugar in a coffee grinder or grinding it by hand in a mortar and pestle.
I'm not sure if Stevia would behave the same way as regular sugar but if you're interested it might be worth a try? Let us know how it goes.

I found it! Guess where? Here on our very own forum in the Recipes for IBD section of Diet and Fitness.
