Hooray surgery over and done yesterday evening. Finally got the surgeons to see him and they agreed to operate that day - bit of a shock!
On the down side the abcess cavity was alot bigger than they thought so he couldn't clean it all out as he was getting too close to the muscles by the anus. I am upset about that especially as it took them soooo long to finally do something.
Looks like a small fistula too so they want to put him on Aza, so a bit stressed about that!
Thankfully he isn't in pain. Another anaesthetic tomorrow to clean out/change the dressing then home!!!
I am at home for a shower. Soooo tired as couldn't sleep in the ward last night - too much noise!

Omgoodness what a shock foryou to get in immediately! Glad to hear that they got him in so quickly and that it went well; hoping for super improvement to follow! Your shower was hard earned...enjoy it! Hoping you can get some rest soon. (So trueabout the noise...I met a hospital administrator yesterday and it was the first subject I broached :)

So glad he's been treated!! And hoping he has a very quick recovery!! :thumleft:

Thanks everyone. Home for the weekend which is lovely! Hope the dressing doesn't decide to fall out before Monday (we go back in to get it changed). Poor Andrew threw up on the way to the toilet just before we left. Think it was all the anaesthetics and morphine, plus he hadn't stood up since he came back from theatre.
Hoping for a good recovery - they say it could take any where up to a year - OH NO. :yfrown:

Good luck over the weekend! and I hope the recovery is speedier than suggested!

:goodluck:
