Hi all,

I just had a fistula and neighbor abscess drained on Thursday. During my 15 hour hospital stay I had an in and out catheter to give me a helping hand. I went home Friday afternoon, and Saturday went back to the ER because I Just couldn't urinate. Got a Foley at that point and wore it until today at 10am when my surgeon removed it. So now its 5PM and I still have not urinated. I have swelling still on my scrotum, but it has gone down CONSIDERABLY...but still there. Has anyone else experienced this "can't urinate" thing? I've drank at least two quarts since 10am, nothing. I'm thinking I should just go back to ER and get another foley so I don't have to do at midnight. Very frustrated :-(. Right now I'm on pred (15), pentasa (4gm), percocet every 4 hours.

I don't have any advice for you (sorry) just wanted to send hugs your way. Thats awful. Did they give you any indication of why it has not gotten better?

Thx for hugs! I'm being told by health care professionals that this is common. Dunno. I do have an appointment with an urologist this Friday. Lessee.

Ps: just leaving ER With new Catheter.

Hey there roadie

Gosh I'm sorry this happening, you're really having it rough. I can't offer any advice but for what it's worth you did the right thing going back to the ER. I do hope the catheter gives you some ease and it comes out real soon. Take care and lots of hugs. :ghug::ghug:

Thanks, still no dice. I got another foley Wednesday evening and went to urologist in Thursday for advice (on referral from surgeon). He said this kind of trauma is normal when operated on down there. He also said since I am taking max dose of Percocet it is known to cause slowdown if not ht of urination. So I immediately dropped my dosage in half of perc. I was taking 2 tabs (5mg) every four hours and now for last 24 hours down to one every 6-8 hours. Urologist said we can try to remove again once I'm off perc for pain from operation. I'm hoping to be weened by Tuesday. Any of this sound familiar to anyone? Hoping this is all normal.

I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you but I did change your title in hopes that you'll get more responses. I hope coming off the pain meds will help. Keep us posted. :)
