So the time has finally come. Today is the day I will get my ileostomy. Does anybody have any last words of advice. I really hope I start to feel better soon.

Good luck. Hope it goes well and your recovery is not too painful :dusty::dusty::dusty:

Surgery went well. The pain is fine as long as I don't move too much. Just waiting for the dude to start working

How long did peoples stoma take to become active after surgery? And what kind of things did you eat first?

I find it takes about 3 days then start on clear fluids, full fluids then food. Keep the pain under control. You will heal better. Glad things went well.

They are allowing me fluids already so I am just sipping water. Thanks for all the advice it's really helpful

Don't know what to make of all this my stoma nurse just came and changed my back for the first time it's all very scary and weird

My only advice is the thought of having / dealing with a stoma was 120x worse than actually have one once comfortable with your appliance etc.

I'm in the process of reversal 3 days after surgery so far it sucks but hopefully in the end it all works out, waiting to pass that gas!
