Last year my lips were so swollen they actually hurt and it lasted almost all summer? Has anyone else had this happen because of their chrons? I spend countless hours on the water fishing so I'm constantly exposed to the sun but I've started wearing zinc and a buff to try and avoid direct lip contact. Just wondering if I'm the only one becasue so far no doctors have been able to explain why this happens I was even at the Clevand Clinic and they couldn't answer me? Also I sometimes get a cold sore inside my lips and it burns like crazy and stays for a long time and again I can't seem to find a straight answer maybe someone here can help me.

I burnt them in early june last year and they got back to normal around september.

White lips....I think you are starting a new trend. There are a number of reasons why your lips could have swollen. The obvious reason I can think of is that you are on a chemotherapeutic or biologic agent that makes you more sensitive to the sun, resulting in the easy burning and swelling. My spouse and I were in Cancun in February and the same thing happened to her. Swollen lips followed a week later by a fever blister (caused by the herpes virus that usually rears its head after mucosal damage).

Thanks for the answer I'm going out this week to fish a tourny in the western basin of lake erie and will be on the water all week so it's going to be my first test this season. I will make sure to use lots of zinc and if it's cold I will be wearing a buff. Would it matter if I'm trying to get sun for example wearing shorts and t-shirt?
