I was wondering if anyone else has had a flare up or symptons while being on Humira? My symptoms are nausea, lightheaded and pain in my right side.

In October I started Humira injections every two weeks, had a couple of flare ups since then, doctor did small bowel test and said I have inflammation, so he increased my injections to every week on January 13. I have been feeling pretty good the last couple of weeks. Then last week I felt a little tired and had some pain in my right side on Wednesday and Thursday and diarrhea before injeciton on Friday. I did my injection Friday and started to feel a little better on Saturday to Monday, then today I came home from work because I am light headed, nauseated and have pain in my right side. Now my doctor says to go to emergency room so they can check things out. I am so tired of going to the emergency room and also of feeling like this. Does it ever get better?

I am afraid the Humira may not be working. I have been on so many three other medications, my doctor says I am running out of things that will treat this disease.

Nausea and pain in your right side could be your liver - there are some people who get that as a side effect. If you're sick, go to the emergency room.

I agree though, it is one place I absolutely hate to go. I spent many nights sitting there when my Mom went through cancer treatment. 4AM and I was sleeping on a hard plastic chair. Ugh.

Has your doctor ever prescribed you anything else? Such as a short course of Prednisone, Entocort, or antibiotics?

From what it sounds (but it might be lack of information) it might be time to seek a second opinion about your disease management. I wouldn't count Humira out, but you have to give it a chance to work by getting the inflammation under control in the first place.
