ALso in VSL#3

the good one in VSL#3 is L. acidophilus, it drops PH a lot in vitro, which inhibits bacteria like AIEC, L reutiri and L. rhamnosus are even better at it, dunno if any probiotic brands have them

in vivo they don't do enough though, only nissle 1917 is strong enough, but I think it was forbidden now in the US or something, idk

someone wrote a paper about them a while ago:

here is the paper of hers, I speak the language but maybe google translate can translate it

inulin can make AIEC worse in vitro, AX prebiotic (Arabinoxylan) makes it better cause it increases viscosity of mucus iirc

what's funny is that many studies have tried inulin, because of the increased butyrate, but it comes at a possible cost of increasing AIEC, any short term effects could be negated if it incraeses AIEC

all the bifi---xxxxxx bacteria are colon ones though afaik, dunno if you have CD or UC, or where, but I would try to get some lactic acid bacteria too if you have issues in the small intestine, bifido---- aren't in the small intestine afaik

I have UC,been down the inulin prebiotic route and probiotic route many times.
Inulin also makes me worse, and so do probiotics depending on the probiotic and
how much I take.
UC since 1980 so have done many things.

cool, I just realised that L. acidophilus has it's name from the low PH it lives in probably, never thought about that
