Kyi, I hate to tell you, but yes, teeth problems can be a major thing for us. Wish I had known back in my 20's what I am reading about on here now. First, our crohn's means we don't absorb the vitamins and nutrients from our food as we should, so there is one strike against our teeth. The next strike against them is the medicines we take. However, I do believe that at your age, you can help your situation with vitamin and mineral supplementation, search topics on here to find out, but there are many posts about it. If I had known this, I would hopefully have more teeth left myself, at my age, lol!

my good grief!we are always going through the wars lol when will it end haha, thanks for the reply, i wont feel like its all my fault when i go dentist asap =) xx

You might try taking enough vitamin D3 to reach a testing level between 60 to 70ng/ml. Also taking vitamin k2, or eating foods high in K2 should help your teeth.

I used to have bad teeth. (I guess I still do) It was pretty common to develop a number of cavities each year. I've also had a few root canals at this point. That all changed around 5 years ago once I took these supplements, and improved my diet. I have not had a cavity since.

Good luck! A few articles on this idea that might be helpful.

& from Dr. Briffa's UK sight - he lists the typical D3 unit dosage used in the UK:

It's too late for me, but save yourselves! :) I am planning ones that don't get cavities, ever, in the next few weeks.

Also pay attention to your gums - I have had gum grafts - very painful, expensive, and as I am now finding out, short lived. Find a good dentist and outline this all to him/her, and try to get a good care plan set up.

im a dental nurse, i could chat all day about teeth lol!
the b12 injections your getting should help with the b12 deficiency but also take a calcium supplement and vitamin D which is required for the absorption of calcium. improper absorption of both can cause brittle teeth /bones and can also effect the jaw. ditto what shamrock15 said about gums too. lack of vitamin D can affect gums.
its not the lack of vitamins directly attacking your teeth, they are making your teeth more suseptable to decay and breakage. until you get the vitamin balance back in check be careful about what you are eating and drinking.
- don't brush immediatley after meals as food contains hidden acids and brushing will remove enamel.
- check your toothpaste contains at least 1400ppm (parts per million) of fluoride.
- and you might want to use a fluoride mouthwash between brushing, exposing teeth to fluoride a couple of extra times during the day will really help.
