New to the forum w/ continual desire for information...thank you for your patience.

I've been diagnosed w/ crohn's in my terminal ileum via colonoscopy. my colon was clear as far as i know. suffering mild abdominal pain which is decreasing w/ steroid (prednisone and entocort use).

My BIGGEST problem as i try and pull out of my first flare (diagnosed w/ crohn's just recently) is feeling sick to my stomach. i get naseaus w/ stomach cramps probably 3-4 times a day. been keeping track of diet and it seems to have little correlation.

curious to know why my upper digestive track seems to be suffering, could something else be wrong? has anyone else expreinced this? did it remain or disappear once prednisone was stopped? has anyone else expereinced something similar?

thanks for your comments!

I had my Crohn's in my terminal ileum too and I developed ulcers in my stomach. I think all the meds and pain killers took a toll on it. Might not have anything to do with your Crohn's just stress and side effects of medications do bad stuff too.

It could be the Endocort. Its common to make people sick to their stomach. When i took it I took zofran for the tummy issues. Just ask your doc for it :) Should help :)

What are your bowel habits like? If you are tending toward constipation do you think you may have some narrowing and therefore backing up a bit?

Dusty. :)

I have those same symptoms, I have crohns in my small and large bowel. Often it comes from overeating or eating the wrong things, some days it just is just from eating. I have had an esophagram, MRI series and SBFT to check on my small intestine, and I do have areas of narrowing. My GI gave me Hyomax, which is an anti-spasmodic that supposedly works on smooth muscle like your intestines. Didn't do a thing for me though.
I have learned to watch what and when I eat, and eat much slower that I used to. That seemed to be the only thing that helped. No seeds, no popcorn, no high fiber stuff.

Oh, and I started using a multivitamin with ginger in it, seemed to help with some of the nausea. It's a prenatal vitamin, I am sure meant to ease morning sickness.

Hi I was diagnosed with CD in May after having symptoms since Easter initially I had pain in my stomach and thats why I went to the doc in the first place. My gastroscopy showed thickening in the duodenum and a hiatus hernia and mild inflamation, since starting on the pred thats all settled.
