the other solutions : Zone & SCD

Hello to all of you,

Completely new here, hope the post appears in the right / rightish forum.
As most of you will notice, English is not my mother tongue so, feel free to have a good laugh if I write funny.

My question :
I am currently not able to decide wether to chose
THE ZONE DIET
OR
THE SCD

I read a lot of testimonies of people getting better on SCD but not so much from The Zone.

Looking for testimonies. If you read both books and / or tried both diets:
why did you chose one over the other ?

Thanks for your time.

Why did I post under "Treatment" ? Because I want to avoid going back on meds and try other alternatives to "treat" myself. My shortened medical history, similar to most crohn's patients:

Diagnosed with Crohn's January 2011 after more than a decade of feeling there was something wrong, having Docs replying I was depressed or mentally sick. Ha ! :ymad:

Pentasa + Deltacortryl for 3 months.
1st month improvements.
2nd months everything went wrong. Due to professional reasons, I live in a developping countries, Docs are not good here but fortunately have internet.
3rd month decided to wean myself off the drugs till better infos & docs.

2 months later, still following the docs recommanded low residue diet (but not their drugs), I was in bed unable to stand up, follow more than a 10 mn conversation, unable to even tolerate Abbot's food substitute or water.

Luck : a friend put me in contact with someone who tried the Zone diet & considerably improved his inflammatory pb.
At this stage, was willing to try anything rather than meds, surgery & all other niceties each different doctor wanted do try on me.
So I religiously followed my coach's emailed instructions.
And started to get a little better. Be able to stand up, take a bit of food, some improvement in many aspects but still a loooooong way to go.
Have only been on it for a month now so not getting over excited yet.

I took the route of what works for me. I eat more vegtables than anything else. I never eat cheese with another protein source- it just does not work for me. I never eat fruits with other foods. I am careful with wheat and limit the amount I eat. I always peel my tomatoes. I have read many books on nutrition and I have spent the past 10 years researching nutrition. I have learned to listen to my gut. I know from the smell of food if I can eat it. It takes time.

The Zone is basically set up so that you eat the right balance of carbs, proteins, and fats. It is sound in its ratios. SCD is an elimination diet. You are restricted on certain foods until you are healed. I prefer the SCD and it is the basis of my diet.

If you are interested, there is a book that explains inflammation and the relationship with food very well. The name of the book is "The New Eating Right for a Bad Gut" by Scala. Solving inflammation will eliminate your symptoms. I just took all of the information and came up with a plan that works for me.

Good luck,
Wendy

Same old

Thanks Miz, this is also what I understand. Each of us is different and should learn to listen to his/her own body.

Never had pb with honey before 2010 (the year of the big attack ha ha).

Was however surprised that E.G would write to experiment with honey, though recognised as anti-inflammatory, though she warns it works for some & not others, honey's structure shows potential as an irritant.
I had some for 1 day a week ago and have seen all my efforts of the past month, ruined. :(:( Nearly back to square 1 with terrible gut pain & gargles.

So long honey, I loved you.
Fortunately, I live in the subcontinent, curcuma & cinnamon in huge quantity, good quality & so cheap it's crazy.
