Melodramatic? Possibly .... Started on Aza a few weeks ago and increasingly suffered joint pains, life became v painful but then last night was truly dreadful. Increased dose (from 1 to 2) and within a few hours was in agony and could not move - lower back / midriff / neck / knees not able to support my weight and the feeling of a breathlessness and a huge weight pushing on my chest. I like to think I have quite a high pain threshold but this was something else ... I really did consider the possibility I was having a fatal reaction.

Twelve hrs later and I still have chest 'ache', back pain, knees ache nurse told me to stop taking.

Point is I am now worried what damage has been done? Liver? Joints? Was it worth it? Absolutely not .... any similar experiences?

I'm sorry you had to go through that. Reactions like this aren't too uncommon. Usually as soon as the drug is completely out of your system, the effects will either go away or taper off. So I wouldn't worry that any permanent damage has been done.

I hope they find a treatment that is effective for you and doesn't cause awful side effects. Welcome to the forum.
