I have a colonoscopy scheduled for this Friday. My CT abdomen results indicated that there may be scarring or a fistula. I was feeling bad a couple of weeks back but feel pretty normal now. Should I bother getting my colonoscopy? I'm mainly concerned about the expense. My last colonoscopy was November 2007. After insurance I still owed $600!!!

What would you do?

How long have you felt better. What's the difference between feeling better now and how you felt worse before. If you are having and pain at all I would go through with it. If you are bleeding at all, even a little bit on tissue paper, I would go through with it. If you are able to drop the 600 I would go for it.

Also it depends on how much your deductible is and how much you had payed before the scope. If it was $600 without any counting as deductible that hurts! Either way I would highly suggest going for the scope if you aren't feeling well and the doctor suggested it. If you thought a scope was expensive just imagine a hospital stay and surgery if something is seriously wrong and could have been prevented.

I would talk to the doc. Tell him/her the economic strain is considerable; and if it is not absolutely required.. could you take a pass unless your current status changes

OMG please go get your colonoscopy!!! I procrastinated mine because I would feel better a day or two later after having pain. If I would have done my colonoscopy sooner i don't think i'd be having the flare i'm having now! I would give my bank acct to feel better right now! Don't be silly... please!
