Hello.

The doctor thinks that I have mild Crohn's disease. The treatment is 1 month of predisone followed by let's wait and see. They are thinking that from here on out I will only need predisone during a flare

The question that I have is, What do you guys take for mild Crohn's disease? Is it normal to cycle on and off predisone for mild Crohn's disease?

Thanks

For the first 5 years on my mild Crohn's I did pretty much what you are doing except I took budesonide (a milder steroid with fewer side effects). It seemed to do pretty well for a long time, but eventually the disease progressed to a partial stricture of the ileum and an extra-intestinal inflammation of the pericardium - requiring chest surgery. So now I am on stronger stuff, namely Stelara.

So it's not an unreasonable approach, but you and your doc must vigilant for any progression beyond mild disease.

Hi! I am on Stelara also. Have been onit a year. I have on and off rectal bleeding with right sided abdomen pain. Just had Ct scan and they say i have moderate nodular rectosigmoid thickening with proctitis mass lesion. Not sure what this means. Stelara may not be working. Is it working for you?

Stelara does appear to be working for me, although I've been on it for only about 5 months. I do occasionally still get some mild right side pain, but so far nothing worse.
