Hello all,

I just got back from a doctor's appointment, and I needed help with the treatment options he proposed to me. If anyone read a previous thread of mine I was wondering if I should wait till I'm financially able to take Remicade or try Prograf or Imuran for now. The doctor said my condition can't handle waiting for couple of months till I finance the Remicade and I should take something till then, he is all in favor of Imuran. I'm not sure about Imuran as I hear it has many side effects and when I asked him about side effects he said my body has a very low tolerance and very exhausted and I have to tolerate the coming period on Imuran and basically "hold on" tight. He changed his tone about surgery for the first time, in the past he said he is against putting me through it and now he is saying though he isn't in favor for a surgery but he think it wouldn't hurt to have a surgeon consultation.
He sent me home with a re-fill of Pentasa, blood test to get done tomorrow and to come back to him with the results as soon as they are out.

Is it worth it to take the Imuran till I get the Remicade? I'm worried about the side effects as well, I tend to get every side effect in any medicine I take. Regarding the surgical option, though it really scare me, is it worth it ? Crohn's can appear again....

Thank you for reading and for your answers :rosette2:

Hi Nancy! Although I'm not a doctor and won't tell you what to do, Imuran and Remicade both have all kinds of possible. If you cannot afford Remicade now, it probably won't hurt to give the imuran a try at least.

Surgery is scary and doesn't always make everyone better. There are some people who have had great luck with having surgery, and others continue to have symptoms.
