Trying to empty the colon

Hi All

I am struggling with a compacted colon. I am so compacted that during a kidney surgery 1 month a go the surgeon found it difficult not to navigate but did my surgery successfully

I only found out 2 weeks ago about how compacted I was when the surgeon showed me on the CT Scans. The entire colon is like concrete and only fresh food is passing - barely.

Before this we did not know what my pain we assumed it was still my kidney.

I have always struggled with long bouts of constipation, so I eat only organics, nothing with chemicals, no caffeine and no alcohol. I rarely eat meat but what I do is free range & organic.

So in the last 2 weeks we've done the following to try to unblock my colon as I am not eating much (last 4 days - I've only done clear liquids).

1. 3 1hour colonic Appts - I have only cleared to 1/2 the descending colon a d lost 7kg or 16.4 lbs.
2. Homeopathic Bowel Tonic made up of: wild yam, golden seal, barberry, fennel, fenugreek, capsicum & ginger. 3x daily 10mls each time - foul stuff! Worse than any movicol or pico prep sachets !!!
3. I drink 3 litres of water daily + 1 litre herbal tea
4. Movicol - 5 sachets - failed

This all failed.

This weekend my dr had me do:
1. Actilax a lactulose solution - in total on Saturday I took 75mls - nothing
happened and you should only take 45 a day.
2. PicoPrep - I did all 3 sachets as directed in warm water and drank 6 litres of water in the last 24 hours. - only fluro yello water is leaving my bottom!

I am starting to freak out! I can't have a colonoscopy unless I am empty but nothing will move. I keep imagining them cutting me open and removing 1/2 my colon. I haven't slept since last Tuesday it's now Monday.

Has any of you beautiful people got any advice or similar story? I am open to all comments

Just tell me - am I alone in this?

Hi Heidi:

Welcome to the forum! Wow, you're having quite the time, aren't you? Unfortunately, my experience has been on the D end of the Crohn's spectrum rather than the constipation end, but hopefully someone will be able to come along that can offer some better advice. You might also want to post your question on the 'Treatment' section of the forum.

Are you currently taking any Crohn's meds?

I don't think you're alone in this and hopefully, you'll be able to get some answers from someone more experienced than me.

Out of curiosity, how old are you? Have your doctors shared any thoughts as to what may be causing this for you? Have you been on any medications long term, including OTC's? Do you have any symptoms besides the constipation?

Hi there, again! I just responded to your other post; I should have read this one first! Jeez, your colon sure is being stubborn. You must be so uncomfortable. I sure hope you can clean house soon, so you can get in for that colonoscopy. Hang in there!

Sorry to hear this CanucknAus. I would think that with all that stuff you've taken that Colonic Irrigation might be the next step. How uncomfortable it must be. Maybe you have a narrowing that is causing what is a kind of bottleneck. How about exercise, a good walk sometimes can get things moving.
Not trying to be funny @ all but beer is well known for getting things moving along.
Hope something/anything works for you real soon. Try not to stress as that could just exasperate things especially with your lack of sleep.
