turning over a new leaf

well first off id though id join up with a community to talk to other people like me. im 23 and living in georgia. im trying to finish up college, working and trying to keep a healthy relationship :D

last year in early fall i started experiencing stomach pains and it was hard for me to keep down anything i ate. i would get bloated in my stomach after eating. i went to a campus doctor, they just gave me some antacids and thought i had acid reflux. after losing about 30lbs i went to a gastroenternologist, after waiting a month to get an appointment at any place in atlanta. i was quickly diagnosed with crohns. they put me on prednisone(40mg) and imuran. my crohns was mostly affecting my lower stomach and the beginning of my large intestine.

after starting my meds i felt great. i started taking medicine right before thanksgiving and finally got to eat something good with taste. in the spring i started taking pentasa. this summer i was tappered off of the prednisone and my doctor began treatment with humira. everything was going great with it. all this year i haven't had much pain, let alone vomiting after eating.

a few weeks ago during finals, my pains and vomiting started up again. it feels like how i was when my problems initially started. i was out of town for the past two weeks on vacation but was sick pretty much the entire time. i had to take pain killers to help a lot. since the end of november i again lost about 20lbs from not being able to eat.

im going this week to talk with my doctor, prolly some more tests as usual. i want to nip this thing in the butt again. this summer was great not having any issues. im trying to make it my new years resolution to turn around my life style to help. its really been taking a toll on me lately physically and mentally.

so im coming here to listen to other peoples stories and to get advice on what has helped them in similar situations.

Welcome to the forum. :)
The crappy thing about crohns is that it never goes away
for good and you never really know when a flare is coming.
Hope you feel better soon!

it does suck that it's something you live with forever. i just wish i was able to calm my flare up and go back to how i felt this summer.

Hi Sean and welcome to the forum!
I hope you get some answers this week and start feeling better again real soon.
have you tried any of the supplement drinks like Boost or Ensure? I don't know if the liquid would be any easier on your belly and not make you throw up as easily?
Let us know what your doc says.
Good luck!

Hi Sean!

Welcome to the forum!
I'm sure you will get lots of feedback here
along with much support from the members.

It's sounds as though you are going through a flare, which happens,
on and off, and we really don't know why.

As they say with Crohn's "The only thing predictable is the pain".

I'm sure your doctor will get it turned around again,
and you'll be feeling much better again real soon.

Once again,
Welcome to the Forum...

Healing hugs~Nancy :)

thanks guys. my butt hurts, i have tried smoothies(smoothie king) and again its hit and miss with those. last weekend i was able to keep one down for lunch. a few weeks ago i had one that i threw back up. i haven't tried ensure or other druck things though

Yeah, I know my tummy gets irritated with all of the above- ensure, boost, etc.
But they are good for many other people. All tummies are not created equal.

lol true

well my appointment didnt go quite as well as expected. i had a CT scan in the beginning of december and my dr told me it wasn't looking good at all. i was tapered off of prednisone last summer but he put me back on a good sized does to see if that helps with the inflammation at all. if not he wants to do surgery within the next month. its really stressful since school starts tomorrow. it is suppose to be my last semester so if i have to take about 2weeks off for surgery it will really screw up school for me.
