So I am new to the forum in that I just started posting about my son being diagnosed with Crohns in March of this year. It has been a long road and we are just beginning with meds and learning all the ramifications of this disease.
Anywho, I saw the GI that diagnosed my son(adult GI we moved C to a peds GI after the diagnosis) last week and just got some not wanted results today.
I have seen this GI in the past, two years ago, I was experiencing pain, frequent D, and some other symptoms and went in search of some answers. This was in 2010 and after performing and upper endoscopy and colonoscopy, they determined I had H. pylori. It was treated and the pain that I was experiencing disappeared(weird back/abdominal pain). By the next year I was back at my GP experiencing more digestive problems and pain, he sent me for a HIDA scan and they determined my gall bladder needed to be removed due to low function results(I must say the results were just low end of normal but doctor said it was cause of problems) It was removed June of last year. The problems have persisted my bm cycles are dreadful and pain is unrelenting before episodes of D. He retested for H pylori saying sometimes the meds only supress it but he is worried that I may have IBD too, his main concern being mucous in the my bowel movements and that being an indicator of inflammation in the digestive tract. I had bouts of stomach pain and D throuogh out childhood and early adulthood that we never got to the bottom of. When it is a period of pain, I have never known such pain but when it is not I feel fine. Eating out is a big problem for me, I don't even like to do it due to the painful D it causes. At home it rotates between not being able to go for several days to going 9 times in a day and it being liquid to soft. The pain always precipatates the D.
I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that that may be what I have. I've had testing throughout my life and these bouts come and go and rarely last more than a week or so until here lately. And when it is a going on I've known no worse pain but in between bouts I'm fine.
Ugghhh can this be real? Scheduling upper endoscopy/colonoscopy now possibly followed by pill cam and or small bowel follow through. Seriously...nope not seeing it. Denial not just a river in Egypt?:sign0085:

Hi there, sorry to hear that you are now having to go through this as well :( It is best to have things properly checked out though so even though it is hard perhaps see this as a positive so you can get some answers too.

Wishing you all the best and pls keep us updated on how things go.

Thanks Angrybird, just needed to vent. Supposed to be scheduling endoscopy and colonoscopy today. I dread the prep, the laxatives induce the pain I am trying so hard to avoid. Blech! Hope you are feeling well, still!!

:( I'm sorry to hear you may have IBD too. Let's hope not. But we're of course here for you as you go through this process. Let us know if there's anything we can do for you.

*hugs*

Thanks, David. I'm scheduled for the upper and colonoscopy on May 17th. It seems so surreal that the GI is leaning toward CD and I am still not convinced he is headed in the right direction. But I am hoping for a diagnosis of some sort. Eating out and traveling are the activities I miss the most. A recent long weekend trip was a disaster, scheduling eating and pain and D. I really tried to find things I felt wouldn't make my tummy mad...but to no avail.
Also, I've had this pain in my throat/neck for several weeks and finally went to GP. It's not like sore throat but there is discomfort when I swallow and also when I turn my neck. The GP thought it might be more muscular and prescribed Celebrex(he is aware of my GI probs and upcoming tests) I questioned him on should I take this with procedure coming up and he said I would finish them in time to not affect the procedure. Duh...when I got home and had taken one I realized anti-inflammatory might not be good for GI. It seems to have relieved the neck issue some but heartburn is nasty. Not sure what to do.
Thanks for the ear guys, hopefully the GI will get to the bottom of this all!
