UPDATE after colonoscopy

Hi everyone I am 20 years old and the doctors believe I have Crohn's disease they are doing colonoscopy Friday tomorrow I cleanse. I have been bleeding per rectum during bowel movements and had blood in stools, sometimes going to the bathroom is unbearable mines more of constipation rather than diarrhea although even when i am not constipated I still have significant bleeding. I am in so much pain tonight but a week ago I had the same pain and thought it was my appendix so I went to the ER and Didn't think to tell the ER doc my GI issues since I didn't think it could be related but after the ct and he said it was fine not my appendix I told him the other symptoms and he said did I have family history of Crohn's I explained yes my uncle and grandmother on my dads side. I explained I was supposed to have colonoscopy done soon he said my symptoms were probably related to what was going on but he couldn't say for sure since he's not my GI doc and the colonoscopy hadn't been done so I got sent home on loratab for pain and phenergan for nausea. But here I am a week later and in tons of pain same side same pain and nausea but this time one of my eyes is swollen up and I have 3 mouth ulcers. Feels like I have to go to the bathroom bad but can't thoughts anyone?? Please I understand you probably all get this a lot from people but my pain is genuine and really want answers and thoughts. Please help give advice on if I sound crazy or what it's okay I want honesty. I don't know anyone with Crohn's so I have no one to ask these things

UPDATE
I got my colonoscopy showed clear however my doctor said I have extremely sensitive intestines and bowel spams he's unsure why and unsure where the bleeding is coming from. He said its prob all ibs.... An just putting me on a med to relax my intestines however he didn't do any biopsies and didnt even mention anything about endoscopy or pill can to get a further look at other parts??? I just don't get it. He said if the meds don't work he will look at my gall bladder although he doesn't think that's it..Thoughts???

Hi RTM03,

It's a good thing you're getting the colonoscopy done, once it's over your GI will be able to tell you if you have Crohn's or not. Don't worry about it, the "prep" i.e cleansing is the worse part! When I was first diagnosed with Crohn's I did not have THAT much diarrhea and I was convinced they misdiagnosed me because of it, but I realize that we all experience the disease in different ways. You may have narrowing in your colon due to inflammation, which is making you feel like you have to go, but can't. It could be any number of things. I made myself crazy thinking my symptoms weren't that bad or that I was "fabricating" this pain; it's normal--you are not crazy and need to tell your doctor exactly how you feel, whether you think it's relevant or not.

Wish you the best! And I pray it isn't Crohn's!

Thank you can't wait to know something Friday. Taking some pain meds hopefully the cleanse tomorrow won't be that bad

the cleanse is ok, if you are really fuill you can get some slight cramps but they dont last long, I wudnt go out once you have taken it as it works pretty wuickly and you will need the toilet alot.

Lol yea im hoping I can manage taking care of my 4 month old and doing the cleanse this evening

Good luck with the prep! Let us know how it goes and what they find. I don't wish you to have Crohn's, but if you are diagnosed with it, at least you can begin treatment and hopefully get rid of your current pain in a relatively short time.

Buy the softest toilet paper you can find and have lots of baby wipes next to the toilet. These will be your best friend once the bowel prep kicks in.

Yea I think this will be bitter sweet considering my issues are more extreme constipation won't be able to go for days but when I do actually go tons of bleeding and it hurts so bad I wanna cry and my legs shake :( its pools of blood and etc and pain in my lower right side and now since yesterday evening my eye lid has swollen up significantly, sighhh I jut want answerseven if it's not ibd I do worry about how much blood I could potentially lose during the cleanse? Anyone else have that concern?? I think I have ulcers or fissures in there that may be the cause of the terrible bleeding and rectal pain I have extreme abdominal pain when I go to but also not my anus persist but tons of severe rectal pain

Hello, if you are still in pain and don't get a diagnose, you than need to change doctor. It happened to my son. He had excruciating pain and the GI failed to diagnose him properly. Finally we found one of the best who took his every word seriously and treated him aggressively. Not to say that things got worse before they got better, but every case is different and I wish you the best of luck!

What color is the blood in your stool? Is it a lot or a little?

Have you given any further consideration to a second opinion? It would be a good idea at this point to get one if this doctor cannot explain the bleeding and pain nor will he offer additional tests to find the bleeding.

The bleeding is around 1-4 tablespoons with each bm every now and then I won't bleed but 95% of the time that's what it is

I dealt with the same thing when I was first diagnosed... Lots of sharp pains and troubles with bowel movements. The doctors thought it was a bunch of different problems like my appendix. But for me, the colonoscopy ended up showing that there was inflammation, suggesting Crohn's. I'd definitely suggest getting a second opinion, especially if your doctor isn't giving you a clear answer! I mean, at the very least he should have put you on something to deal with the symptoms youre having... Don't ever try to convince yourself that your symptoms aren't bad enough to warrant attention, even if your doc doesn't seem to think it's a problem. YOU are the one who has to deal with it, not him. Something I've noticed is that you really need to be your own advocate with this disease. If you think there's something wrong, there probably is! What sort of medication did he put you on? Was it a steroid or something else? I hope things get better for you! Just remember, you really have to stand up for yourself to get the care you deserve! Also, welcome to the forums, it really is a good place to go for support and information on Crohn's!
