CROHN'S SUCKS!!

I've been dealing with it since I was in middle school. Trying to get any kind of help took until I was almost dead. Years of pain, weight loss, vomiting and fevers only ever got me a dianosis of drug addict = /. Finally diagnosed after Christmas of 08. Bowel resection after that.

Anyway, I'm a college student when possible. Live in SWFL. Lead a relatively dull existance right now.

Currently on:

Remicade
Sulfasalizine
Paxil
Hydroxyline

Hi Hazardous and :welcome:

Never was a truer word spoken! Crohns does indeed suck...:(

Your story of going a lengthy period of time being undiagnosed is all to familiar and that sucks too! Not to mention the stigma of being labelled a drug addict, ugh!

It sounds as if you are still struggling, is that right? Is the medication working?

Thank you all.

The meds dont really work, cept prednisone. Seeing as I dont have insurance and in the state of Florida they would rather see you die than treat you, fighting for meds is a far too drawn out struggle. Despite my GI's requests they will let me have very little. American healthcare at its finest LOL. I'd seriously be better off in Laos or Cuba.

:welcome: Hazardous!

I went undiagnosed (or diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome) for 20 years before I got the correct diagnosis of Crohn's. Long undiagnosed periods seem common. Last summer I was officially diagnosed and then, just to confirm it, had surgery in October. I think the docs actually believe me now.

Anyway, I saw your comment about your lack of insurance. I do not know why you are not insured, but if it is due to a pre-existing condition like Crohn's, well, the new Health Care law has given you an option you might want to look into, called the PCIP (Pre Existing Condition Insurance Plan). This plan went into effect on June 23rd, 2010.

or better yet.

Just thought it might help.

Or Australia!

Seriously though, I'm so sorry to hear that not having insurance is having such an impact on your health. I'm sure there are other Americans here that may be able to steer you in the right, like Doug^^^.

Good luck mate and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Thinking of you,
