I was just wondering if anyone knows the symptoms of upper GI crohns, I have been discharged from hospital with suspected flare Crohn's of terminal ileum, had ct and conoscopy with biopsies, got to se GI consultant end of September however I've been having mouth ulcers and getting discomfort in esophagus, feels like something sometimes is stuck and it takes my breath away some of the times it happens.I'm on omeprazole for stomach reflux.

I would appreciate if anyone can help me out if these are symptoms of upper GI Crohn's???

Im having these same symptoms and I too have been put on omeprazole but yesterday my tongue also started hurting my throat isn't sore but feels like therea lumps all the way down
Im meeting a new GI tomorrow I am going to mention these new symptoms x

That's interesting, I've been in omeprazole for over a year now. I've been having problems for over 2 years now but these new symptoms only been for 2 months , I'm getting the same as you though, if you wouldn't mind could you let me know what your GI says please, would be very grateful x

Of course I will, I have an appointment at 12 tomorrow so will message on this straight after x

Thank you very much for that I appreciate it, hasn't got to be streight away, I haven't got appointment until end of September, I went to GP last week and they gave me indigestion tablets like they do..... But didn't work because I know it's not indigestion if you know what I mean, my GP did say to go back this week and she will see they can book
me in for another endoscopy x

My GP thinks my GI will arrange an endoscopy which I haven't had before I have had 2 colonoscopys
Im also awaiting an MRI of my small bowel appt
Hope you start to feel better

I had an endoscopy before and I didn't like that at all, I went for the sedation but didn't seem to work because they didn't give me enough of it however there are many people that have an endoscopy and remember nothing about it, I have also had 2 colonoscopys, one was normal and the other showed inflammaton and ulcers in terminal ileum, still awaiting GI to diagnose though.
This forum is very useful as other people can relate to how you are and what you have been through and it's good to know that you not the only ones going through the same thing.

I had my first colonsocopy under local sedation but apparently I woke during the procedure screaming in agony and was in too much pain for them to carry on but i dont remember lol so had it done again under GA a few weeks later so hopefully I dont have that problem again
Yea I have found this forum great! A massive help!!

In not going to lie I found the colonoscopy painful especially the second time, it's not a nice procedure to be done and especially if inflammation and ulcers are present, I'm glad I found this forum because you can share experiences with people who's going through the same things, hope all goes well tomorrow for you

Hiya
So I went to meet my new GI today he seems like a bit of a stuck up so and so amd a bit brush off but beggars cannot be choosers as they say!
I mentioned the new symptoms and he has booked me in for an endoscopy on the 16th :/ he said also it could be something i would have to see E&T about (throat doctors) if im still the same in a couple weeks go to my GP... so not that helpful really :/ x

Sorry to hear he was like that, but I've experienced the same before but luckily I have got a decent one now who is very understanding which is half the battle.
It's good that you have got an endoscopy booked soon so hopefully that will show what the problem is.
I went to see my GP today as I've also got ulcers at the back of my throat now, they advised no infection but could be active crohns, she spoke to my GI and he has moved my appointment to next Monday:/ they think the feeling in my esophagus could be due to a stricture x

Oh dear well hopefully they get you sorted monday they sound like a good team of doctors you've got!
I guess ill just have to wait and see if my symptoms improve
And also regarding the pain i always get in my kidney/small bowel area he pretty much said I have to live with it until i get my MRI reaults... I havent even had my appt through for my MRI scan yet and that could be 6-8 weeks before i have the scan so i hope the endoscopy finds out something x

Yeah see what he says on Monday, they will probably book me in for endoscopy too, I've had my fair share of the bad doctors in the past 2 years though and it really is frustrating i can relate to that.
That's what I've been told in the past too but they don't realise what it's like because they aren't going through it!
I've had loads of tests and scans and it's only recently it's been picked up, I had an MRI scan one time I was admitted into hospital so I was lucky I didn't have to wait the time you've got to. The nhs waiting times for scans is ridiculous x

I haven't had an endoscopy before so I'm now faced with the decision of throat spray or sedation... any advice?! X

I had one in February, I had the throat spray and they gave me sedation, they didn't give me an option they just gave me both. I didn't find it very nice but to be honest who would? The sedation will help you relax and feel less anxious about having it done and the throat spray numbs it so you can't feel the scope going past your throat, however I did feel it going down the esophagus, I would suggest if your feeling nervous try to have both then you will be fine x
