There are many MJ users on this board. Many use a vaporizer. I thought it could make for a great conversation if we shared our experiences we the different vaporizers out there. It would make it easier in the future for CF peeps to choose one.

I've used the Extreme-Q (Whip vape, made by Arizer) but now use the Solo from the same company. I am currently shopping for "glass", an apparatus that will let me interface the vaporizer with it and filter the vapor in water, smoothing the product even more before inhalation.

I have used the Volcano as well, but I do not like bag vapes. They're well suited for recreational use at parties, but for solo sessions, they're inefficient and produce vapor of lower quality than vaporizers like the Solo.

The only vaporizers I have used is Volcano and the Magic Flight Launch Box. The Volcano is the first one I've ever used and the vapors are definitely better than from the MFLB but I don't have anything else to compare it to.

I'd like to try a whip system someday. Maybe later on when I can save up I'll try an Arizer vaporizer.

Volcano is making a handheld vaporizer now. I haven't really looked into it much or read any reviews but it seems interesting.

The handheld vaporizer by Volcano is absurb, imho. I tried it.

The Arizer Solo is all glass inside, so produces superb vapor, has great and exact temperature controls, and easily interfaces with glass, a whip system or bags.

That sounds good. I'd like to move away from metal heating elements. Being able to further filter through water is cool too.

Have only used the magic flight launch box.

I was looking at the Pax by Ploom. It's kinda pricey, but I do have a hook up where I wouldn't be paying close to retail.

I just like the idea of something small and hand held, even though I'd never be using it outside of my home.

Iv got a vaporite airizer or some weird name haha, it's a whip system, problem is when I pull to hard it turns to smoke anyway haha and can burn the throat, tbh I miss my old double chambered bong from back in my teen years haha

I miss using a bong too! I had a really cool HUGE purple one with a duochromatic finish. It would change colors from purple to green

Smoke is just too harsh for me nowadays.

You can interface a bong with vaporizers now, which is very cool.

When I get my piece of glass I'll take pictures for you.

My Arizer Solo is amazing. It has a lithium battery in it and is the size of the palm of my hand, so you can charge it up and bring it anywhere you want. It's 100% glass and looks like any bathroom appliance you could have.

And like I said you can interface it with any bong or glass you want.

That's awesome. I'm excited for the pictures!

I'll be looking into this Arizer Solo for my next vaporizer.

Thanks for all the posts so far. I will be buying something in the near future, and will post some info when I do.

I've got the V-Tower. The only complaint I have is the product getting stuck on top of the screen when you inhale; besides that it's okay. My brother bought me an Iolite for Christmas a couple years ago and I wasn't pleased with it. It was difficult filling it with the exact amount of Butane without a meter. Ultimately it stopped working last year all together so I don't recommend it.

But I primarily smoke from joints. Rolling is very relaxing :)

I use an airizer solo. I find it very practical and flexible. If I want to use a whip, I attach one. If I want compact direct draw that can be hidden in a soft drink cup, it is minor modification. If I am at home and can sit back with it connected to my glass bubbler (similar to a bong) then I'm happiest.

Compared to smokers I know, I use a lot less material for the same benefit. I don't cough as much and the smell is reduced a lot by avoiding combustion.

I got a volcano vape but unfortunately when I use it I get a lot of air stuck in my stomach. :( Not sure if it's related to my current flare but it's really uncomfortable. Have had to move on to edibles and tinctures.

I have found the Vapor X to be pretty discreet and useful. Vaporizing seems ti improve my appetite a lot more than smoking did for some reason. Can anyone explain why that may be? I also dont feel as baked as I did when I smoked. The high is there but its not kicking me in the head. I just feel relief and hungry.

Can you make edibles out of the Arizer solo? And also can anyone show me how to connect it to a bong? I'm thinkin of getting one, not really keen on my vaporizer currently, it's a bit dodgy

I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean can you use it to make edibles WITH (and not out of), then no.

You need a GonG (Glass on Glass adapter). Planetvape.ca sells custom made GonG for the solo. Just make sure you get one that fits your bubbler or other piece of glass (joint size is usually 18mm but it can vary).

I've only gotten a hand held "vapor genie" which was cool at first but i find that you end up using it more like a pipe to feel it in the lungs. Its still harsh. I do not like it. It is good for using in the basement in the winter (i live in New England) as it does not leave an strong odor.

Now that my state has legalized MM for crohn's patients i'll look more into a vaporizor. I'm hoping that my health insurance will cover it, or at least I'll be able to use my medical reimbursement fund towards it.

Good to know about the Solo. I've been needing a new portable one since butane fueled is garbage. I'm comparing that with the Pax. Francis, do you find the glass stem to be problematic when transporting it around? I know that the new DiVinci has a glass stem but it's optional to use, unlike the Solo

What about non-glass bongs. We had a plastic bong, previously. I don't imagine I'd purchase a glass one. I'm far to clutzy.

Sorry I missed your questions guys.

I hate plastic because you can't clean it properly and it becomes disgusting very quickly. Glass lasts forever if you take care of it and can be restored to like new condition in 5 minutes with the right product.

I recommend glass only.

I use my "Da Buddha" vape every day. Long live da buddha!

BTW that's a sick piece you have there Francis. Looks like it would make for a nice oil rig too ;)

I currently have a G5 pen vape which is great for stealth. Want to eventually get a table unit, like a Da Budda or something similar. Just too much $$ for me right now

I live in Massachusetts and want to apply for a Medical Marijuana card. I went to my GI and told them this and they said get the paperwork? I have Crohns and Marijuana helps me immensely with my pain. What paperwork do I have to get? I think they are a bit against this as a form of medicine is there anywhere else I could obtain a card?
Thanks!

Im in MA too. My doctor says that they have to apply for the license to prescribe it and have to increase their insurance. She's not sure if/when she will do it.

Arizer Solo user here... love it!

Easy to use and very Discrete at home with the children (although I only use at night when they have gone to bed)

I thought I'd briefly share what I found with the Atmost Bullet-2-Go portable cheapy vaporizer

Basically it is the entry level of vaporizers, but that doesn't mean it's worthless.

Negatives:
Low Battery life
You have to hold down power button for close to ten seconds to get a good draw
Nothing separates heating element from herbs, causes combustion.
If you hold it down for 15 seconds which you can end up doing easily when battery starts getting flat, it will go into some shut down mode which is hard to get it out of.
Heating Element is a Coiled Rod rather than a flat pad, harder to clean, more surface area to combust herbs.

Positives:
Might be Sub-par, but for £25 it is still an excellent choice if your on a budget.
Small, cool, sleek design
Easy to use.

Another point for the Arizer Solo, I bought mine 6 months ago and its really great at what it does. Ill be looking to pick up an apparatus like Francis has soon!

I have been looking at a budda. Does it work well?

Hell yeah for the price. The silver surfer is like 230 for simple color one like black and silver. Its an additional 30-60 bux for custom colors lol. The Buddha is similar to ssv unit but for 190. Works great and the design is good.

I've used the Magic Flight Box, works better if you have the power cord rather than using the batteries.
Now I mostly use a Vape Pen with Wax/shatter. Works great and it's portable.
Still smoke as well, but really need to limit that.

Hello FrancisK7,
You seem to know what you are talking about, hope you can help me. I am new to MM just got my license but have never used before. Sounds like the Solo is the way to go, is vaporizing the best way to treat our condition and it's many varied symtoms. I understand that CBD is the best for many symtoms so how do you get a lot of that is it by the temp you set the Solo to or the strain of MJ your vaporizing? Also I just checked online and that Vape is priced from $250 to $139.

Hey and welcome to CF! You'll find many knowledgeable people here who can help you guide your choices, I'm only one of many.

Each cannabinoid has different melting and boiling points. THC and CBD, the two of interest, have the following temperature points:

1. 50°C (122°F) THC-Acid decarboxylates. This activates the THC.
2. 66°C (151°F) Cannabidiol (CBD) melts and starts to evaporate. At 180°C (356°F) CBD boils.
3. 200°C (392°F) THC boils.

Vaporizers are designed to output enough heat to guarantee you'll meet the necessary temperatures, the powerful ones can even combust the herbs so it's a matter of dialing the right setting. Some vaporizers like the Extreme-Q have an LCD thermostat for setting exact temps. I kept mine at around 200F. The Solo has only seven pre-programmed temperature settings, so you have to find which you prefer. When you're done the herbs should be dark brown but not black or charred, so that's another way to gauge which setting to use.

When shopping for vaporizers start figuring out what you want out of it. Do you care only about performance, do you need portability, are you on a tight budget, will you interace it with bubblers or not, battery powered or wall powered, etc. Figure out which criteria you want to prioritize and start from there.

Personally, I often recommend the solo because it looks like a medical device, whereas something like the Buddha looks like a pothead toy, as cool as it is. Some people don't want to attract attention, so it's also a matter of personal taste.

Hope this helps.

Wow lots of good info really appreciate your reply...oh as I said newbie so is melting or boiling the way to go.

Wanted to contribute to this thread now that I have my own vaporizer! I ended up getting the Pax Ploom and it's incredible. You get a lot more potency out of what you use, it has a charging stand and great battery life, among other things. I'm really enjoying it so far. Definitely worth the price so far.

Finally got an Arizer Solo, couldn't be more pleased. Like everyone else says, it looks like a small appliance, works extremely well, produces excellent vapor. Got it on eBay for a lot less than vape stores.

I'm jealous!!! The Pax Ploom is a great vaporizer. I was actually just searching for a portable vaporizer but I didn't have 250 to shell out for the Pax. Enjoy it!

I just got an Omicron Ophos vaporizer. It's a very simple unit exclusively for hash oils or full melts. I'm liking it a lot so far.

FYI - I bought the Puffit X portable vape yesterday. It is absolutely incredible. I know I just got it but this fan operated discreet inhaler is just brilliant.

Hubster bough me a DaVinci yesterday, and OMG! I am in love :D Only have to vape every 3-4 hours instead of smoking like every 1.5 to 2 hours. The warranty is truly kickass, and it lasted me all day on 1 charge! Can also be used when plugged in, if it dies

I have used a hotbox vapor vaporizer for about six years. and I have a magic flight launch box. They both work great. The hot box is a great desktop vaporizer for $100. I have yet to use $100 a vaporizer that can produce as much vapor as the hotbox. On the other hand the MFLB is really good for smaller vapor hits. You have to remember it's powered by a AA battery so you're not going to get vapor hits like a desktop. It's still a excellent product though. I really enjoy using the MFLB

MFLB was too much of a learning curve, and I'm lazy, lol Would love to get a desktop unit at some point :D

I use an older Silver Surfer my nephew no longer wanted. The remote does not work anymore and the buttons are a bit wonky. If you mess with it enough and have the patients the desired temperature can be adjusted.I haven't tried anything else.

I just bought a G-Pro and it works great. Lots of vapor, three heat settings and it uses convection heating for efficiency. Not a bad price either.

Just bought an Arizer on y'alls recommendations.

Smoking real ganja isn't an option for me right now (I live in the South and I have legal concerns), so what would you recommend? Vape juice, vape wax, vape "pearls"?

Interested in knowing what has worked best for other patients before I spend the money! :)
