Hello all!
I thought id give you all a much needed update
Well i'm back at my mums now, was let out of hospital again on Friday. I was readmitted via A&E, i felt truely awful! Since i was released the first time id seemed to just get weaker and weaker, untill Tuesday where i could hardly walk and all i wanted to do was sleep. Turns out id got myself really dehydrated, like REALLY dehydrated! (I cant believe how bad it made me feel!) So i was on fluids for a couple of days, I also tried reintroducing food, and it seemed to go ok. However i still get LOTS of cramping!! The pain is unbearable! We've discovered that if i take Loperamide half an hour before food, then buscopan, codine and peppermint tea after food it seems to settle down. So things had finally been going well with that system, untill yesterday and i started to get the dreaded cramps again!! It seemed to dissapear overnight this time. We're at a loss to figure out whats causing it!? It felt like a blockage, and my stoma DID slow down for a bit, but despite my high doses of loperamide and codine, im still getting quite a watery output today Which makes me nervous abut dehydration! Been quite crampy again today after breakfast (scambled egg, sausage and bacon) so willing it to pass without too much trouble.
In terms of my stoma, i feel much more confident after the 2nd stay in hospital, my stoma nurse visited me everyday and we did things together. We discovered that the 'disolvable' stitches around the stoma were cutting into my skin, they made my stoma look like a flower! So she cut those out. It still bleeds alot when disrupted, and i seem to have small lumps on the edge of the stoma (not sure what they are). She gave me some like putty rings to put around the stoma before the bag to help the skin heal underneith and that seems to be working too. But my god the stoma is itchy today!!
Finally the bottom is healing well. I had the stitches removed on Friday (whilst watching the balcony scene of the wedding- VERY memorable!) and it was HORRIFIC!! LOL! They'd got inbedded very tightly into the skin and the nurses really struggled to pick them out. I had to be given ENTENOX gas!! Not nice! But the pain has decreased alot now (im sat on a normal chair as we speak!) My surgeon told me to expect it to take a long time to heal as it was so messed up before hand.
On the plus side, ive had no more leaks - i almost destroyed my mums matress last week So things are looking up!!
Its amazing to be able to eat a bit without TOO many problems, and my energy levels are getting better! I must admit going to the toilet it a million times easier and quiker now!! I quite miss the 'alone' time i used to have. I no longer take my phone with me for 'entertainment' - i used to call my iphone the epitamy in toilet entertainment!! lol!
Anyway, sorry for the overdue update guys, i have no laptop here so im borrowing my sisters, once i go to my dads or home the internet access will be much easier, so i can bombard you with questions! lol! Hope everyones well!!
