Not much to say really, after a year of being ****** around by the medical system I finally know what's wrong. I know absolutely nothing to do with this disease and was just hoping for any advice on how to deal with this. Nothing too complicated just simple things I can do to make the transition easier. Any help is much appreciated!

I would eat real, whole foods and cut out sugars--nearly all sugars except stevia and honey, with cane sugar seldomly allowed. Make a food diary of what causes you problems.

I would try GOOD probiotics to see if they help any symptoms: Jarrow EPS (2-6 a day on empty stomach), Garden of Life (2-6 a day on empty stomach) or Living Streams (only available at their livingstreamsmission site) probiotic (1-2 drops, three times a day). I normally take mine in morning and night.

I would take GOOD enteric coated fish oil throughout the day. 2-4 caps of Source Naturals Ultra Potency with food--or it's equivalent in actual omegas (850mg per cap) with more EPA than DHA.

I would consider the least harmful pharmaceutical: Low Dose Naltrexone. See the top thread in treatments forum section for studies etc. This essentially halts progression and even heals some inflammation of most people. This takes time and toggling of doses if the 4.5mg doesn't do the trick.

This is the basics that I would impart to a newby. Think for yourself.

*To be sure, this is an incomplete/irresponsible/unrealistic question, and, therefore, so is my answer. It's ok, we've all been there, and you have to start somewhere. Considering 130+ people are reading this: YOUR FIRST STEP IS TO WANT TO KNOW MORE...AND MORE STILL.

Hi there and welcome. I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis and it sounds like you had a hard time getting there :(

The best piece of advice I can give is to learn everything you can about Crohn's Disease. Educate yourself about the treatments, the diets, the supplements, the affects of stress, vitamins and minerals, and everything in between. It's a STEEP slope but I sincerely believe that, as this is a lifelong disease (at present), you need to be able to advocate for yourself to ensure you get the care you deserve. We're happy to help you every step of the way with that process.

Where specifically is your disease located?
Do you have any extraintestinal manifestations?
Have they put you on any medications yet?

All my best to you.

My advice would be the opposite- ask your Dr about the "step down" therapy. Start strong to get into remission as fast as you can, the longer the flare the harder remission can be to find. Then when remission has been acheived step down your drugs- as directed by your GI to see what works for you.

I hope you feel well soon!
