What are some of your favorite food combinations that you love to eat, but some people might otherwise think are weird?

I like to eat banana and Miracle Whip (yes, the mayonnaise alternative!) sandwiches. My dad introduced it to me when I was younger. The sweetness of the bananas and tanginess of the Miracle Whip somehow go together quite well!

Also, when I was younger my mom used to make me pepperoni and Cheez Whiz sandwiches for school! Haha. I loved Cheez Whiz.

Cheez Whiz and potato chip sandwiches....I was all about the Cheez Whiz too...lol

crunchy peanut butter & strawberry jam butties, salty & sweet, yum yum

oh and milk chocolate and an apple together, yum yum

ketchup with my grilled cheese sandwich
and cream cheese with my potato chips, (had to be ruffles)
sadly I cant eat most of that now :(

I just thought of another thing. When I used to work mornings at Starbucks sometimes I would eat one of their butter croissants with cream cheese on my break. I never thought of it as "weird" until one of my coworkers commented on it, haha.

I only know what "butties" are from my British neighbor, who likes to eat potato chip and butter butties when he is drunk!

Mac and cheese and ketchup, ranch on pizza, nacho cheese on pepperoni pizza, Sausage egg and cheese bagel sandwich on a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, Penn Station chicken teriyaki sandwich dipped in ketchup, parmesan on popcorn. I'm sure I've got more...

I always thought it a weird combination, but apparently it's popular enough in Canada to sell at Boston Pizza... perogie pizza

Ha Ha Ha Amy! so funny!
chip butties - scrumdiddlyumptious! :ylol2:

I used to love tabasco sauce on my popcorn, haven't tried it since diagnosis though!
Yesterday my dad told me about peanut butter and onion sandwiches.... I don't think that's something I would even try. sounds awful.

I once dipped my pizza in maple syrup. and it wasn't so bad at all!

Vanilla yogurt and chocolate chip cookies might not be too strange but people have looked at me weird before while eating it. It does taste good!!
And I used to eat lox and cinnamon raisin bagel. Now once in a while I will just stick with an egg bagel and lox but I do not eat it too often anymore.
Also when I was younger and was able to eat pizza [ have not in years :( ] my uncle would order the pizza for us with eggplant and anchovies! Maybe not too starnge again but the combo tastes good!!

Nilla Wafers with boysenberry jam topped with whipped cream. OHMYGOD!!! Also, cottage cheese with garlic salt and dried onion flakes. Cottage cheese with spaghetti sauce and parmesian cheese. Green beans with spaghetti sauce and parmesian cheese. Gotta go eat now!

Ooh I LOVE crisp butties! (and bacon butties are the BEST)

Mine would have to be CHEESE AND MARMITE!! Yes. Cheese and marmite sandwiches. I am a HUGE marmite lover. Which is nice, because it's really good for you!

Recently discovered this one while on the SCD, which limits carbs/no grains (crunchy deficient!) VERY limited sweeteners, etc. so snacks can be hard. It's a bit embarassing, but since everyone else is coming clean... Chicharrones (I prefer the Spanish term, sounds better than "fried pork rinds") drizzled with honey. Sounds gross, but it has a rather "breakfasty" quality, like you're having pancakes & bacon & some of the syrup got on the bacon. It's addicting...

fried pickles with mustard... it's a southern thing
Also, I like biscuits with butter and honey on them, topped with some fried chicken. YUM!

Unfortunately, the greasy foods aren't agreeing with me right now but when I was 'normal' those were faves. Now, I guess the weirdest thing I like (which isn't really weird to me) is veggie burgers with red pepper humus and sprouts on a toasted kaiser roll

Jeff, I've never had ketchup on bread but I do eat A-1 steak sauce on french bread-you gotta try it!

I have got to try this! I am newly addicted to nilla wafers!

Haha, I freak people out, especially down here in biscuit country, when I ask for ketchup. I'll have to try A-1.hmmm A-1 and ketchup. The ketchup is the Honduran coming out of me.lol My grandmother put ketchup on almost everything.

Their probably thinking why not tabasco? I know a lot of people in the south that put hot sauce on everything like you do with ketchup :eek2:

Haha, I actually got a bunch of dirty looks when I was at a Cracker Barrel and at a Popeye's when I put ketchup on my biscuit. When I was in New Orleans no one ever batted an eye but in Bama man it's like I just killed someone when I put ketchup on a biscuit. Hmmm ketchup on biscuits. I feel like buying a pack of the Pillsbury biscuits and eating them with ketchup. I'm hungry

I got told off in Maine once for asking the server for a side of gravy to go with my fries. "We don't EAT THAT on fries here."

I grew up one hour from the border to Maine but felt like an (embarrassed) idiot tourist that day. Mind you, I was 19 -- today I'd smile and simply repeat the request!

ps: French fries and honey is good, too, but honey mustard is even better!

LOL Cracker Barrel and Popeye's-not exactly the places I'd expect food snobs! I get the dirty looks at Sizzler when I dip the cheese toast in A-1 sauce. Pay 'em no mind Jeff-go ahead and rock your ketchup and biscuits and know that somewhere at an L.A. Sizzler's the same thing is happening to me!:thumleft:

Haha, yeah I'm pretty sure I smiled really big when I dipped the biscuit in ketchup.

Oh, when I was a kid I went several years eating cinnamon sandwiches. That's right, two pieces of bread with cinnamon in between. I got made fun of forever for that. Heck, people still ask me if I still eat that.haha I tried it a few years ago and I was disgusted.

Taco sauce on Doritos, Potato chips dipped in cottage cheese...hmmm, what else?

We laugh in our family about how people think we are strange for eating potato chips dipped in cottage cheese. Ruffled potato chips work best. Glad to know we aren't the only ones out there! :ysmile:

Roo loves the soft serve ice cream from McDonalds and the french fries. She dips the chips in the ice cream and swears it makes them taste like doughnuts.

Dusty, I used to do that when I was a kid (back when I ate McDonalds)!

I got hooked on french fries and mayo after a trip to Belgium... pretty gross if you think about it, mayonnaise smothered over deep fried potatoes... but (used to be) so good!

I also heard that my uncle ate peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, but I have never tried that.

Re: Cottage cheese and chips - this sounds good! Might try this next time I give potato chips another chance.

Bagels with cream cheese and pickles, pretzels with cream cheese, and gold fish crackers with ranch dressing! I worked in day care for a few years and we had to eat what the kids ate, so the teachers soon came to realize everything is better with ranch dressing on it, no matter what it is!

Cold white toasted bread (so that it goes a bit crispy), with a layer of philadelphia light spread, a layer of seedless raspberry jam & a layer of thin slices of gouda cheese. Delicious!!!

If you add relish, Mrjono, I'm in! When I was younger I'd have these "hot dogs without the dog" on summer camp BBQ night, since I couldn't eat the wiener. Still have them from time to time.

OK Peanut butter and bologna sandwiches with optional Kraft american cheese.

For breakfast, eggs over easy with townhouse crackers crushed and mashed sloppily into the yolks.

Any of the following on pizza: Ranch, BBQ sauce, or Mustard.

I do love me some Liver and Onions. Been my favorite meal since I was 7.
same goes for Braunschweiger.

Also, being in Pittsburgh, I have learned to love ranch with pizza, and coleslaw and fries on sandwiches.

Spaghetti and sauce dried out in a frying pan on potato bread and American cheese for a spaghetti sandwich. My grandmother used to make them for me when I was little and I still make them once in a while. Sometimes I would put pepperoni slices on them as well.

You know, I just thought of another thing...it's not really a weird food "combination", but I like to eat things cold that you would otherwise heat up, like chicken, or spaghetti. I don't know why. It doesn't bother me; it actually tastes really good.

OMG your making me soo hungry lol!! Recently I've been loving wotsits and cheese and chive dip!! (I wanted pringles really but I didn't think I could quite manage to make pringles melt in the mouth for just in case stricture diet!) It turns out....wotsits are better!!! yummy xx

Stop thinking about food....mmmm...modulen!

I love white buttered bread broken into bite-sized bits and soaked in a hot strong marmite drink. I need to eat it with a spoon because the bread gets soggy and swollen and yummy.

Mmmm...

Ok I came across this when I was pregnant and it just stuck...I really like grilled chicken topped with american cheese and pickles.

Yoghurt and wheat bread :O yea i know-weird! Tastes great :)

BUT i discovered recently that the yoghurt gives me diarrhoea and whole wheat may be a lil too heavy for a Crohnie

Oooh Hawkeye, I thought I was the only one who did this! Cottage cheese and potato chips. I also put mustard on saltine crackers and cheddar cheese. I put mayo on burritos, too. I've never been pregnant so I have no reason for these weird combos of mine, other than they are yummy!:thumleft:

French fries and tartar sauce

My manager does that. We always remember her fry order because of it and the order taker always seem really confused by it. Alas the smell of tarter sause makes me nausious so I stear clear while she eats.

coca cola and green olives. What can I say. I like the sweet liquid with the sour bitter salty olives. It doesn't have to be coke. But it does have to be cola. I cut the olives up into tiny pieces and eat them off toothpick. I think it is the strong taste in a tiny package keeps me from eating too much witch keeps the abdominal cramps at bay

Oh, I also love pizza with salad dressing. It's the best.

Mmmm, salad dressing i love creamy emulsified sauces. I guess i'm the only 1 weird enuf here to crave salad too, can't resist chicken and bacon w olives, pine nuts, lettuce and onion with ceasar dressing or half a jar of hellmans mayo on top :allright: BIIIG piece of butter soaked thick wholegrain toast too, drooling over here :)

Mmmm....used to love french fries dipped in a chocolate frosty, sweet & salty, hot & cold.

Pretzels & cottage cheese. I love steak, but I can't eat it unless I have mashed potatoes too. I cut up each piece and dip it in mashed potatoes, can't eat it any other way!
