Well I went to my Doctors appointment today to express my concerns. I have lost 2 more pounds since January 15th appointment on top of the 4 I already lost in December. I am now down to 148. He has scheduled an endoscopy/colonoscopy for this coming thursday January 29th to see what might be going on, again.
He did not receive the blood work or CT scan results done on the 15th so I do not know what the results are, he did order the seceratary to get them asap.
My rapid weight loss and loss of apetite concerns me or I should say scares me. I am tired of going thru this but yet I still keep a smile on my face and stay as active as possible. Even on my bad days I do not rest, I just keep going. It might be time for me to realize I cannot always be on the go as it probly aint healthy for me and get some rest now and then. But I really refuse to give up and let CD win.

Sincerely and Respectfully, Gary

P.S. I sure am glad to have found this forum, "Thank You All" for the replies to my threads I started. I appreciate it more than you know.:)

Hi Gary
Hope you get some answers soon. I think you're right, you need to rest and look after yourself at the moment and conserve your energy.
When my crohns was first diagnosed (35 years ago) it was after a period of complete loss of appetite and rapid weight loss. I went down to 120 lbs, and I'm 6'2" tall.... but had no pain at the time. Never ever understood what that was about, but sounds similar to what you describe. the appetite and weight loss was eventually stopped by a course of the "dreaded pred"
Cheers and good luck!

Hey Gary, I have a colonoscopy on Thursday too! We can be scope buddies :)

I hope you get some good results from the procedure so you can make a battle plan with your doctor to start getting your weight back up. At my worst I was down from 230 pounds to 155 before steroids got me back up there, I ended up reaching 240 cause of the 'roids appetite but now I'm back down to 170 and I'm stable there right now.

Keep us updated and keep your head up.

O the joy of prep today. As if I dont poo enough, LOL

Thank you for the replies as I will keep this thread updated.

Sincerely and Respectfully, Gary

wait a sec, a guy gets a disease where its perfectly acceptable to chill on the couch but he still keeps trying to do things????? i'm confused...:D

good for you to try keep pushing yourself Gary, i've never had the energy to be even close to that, but listen to your body matey, sometimes it needs that rest. time to claim your spot on the couch for a little, grab some dvd's and relax.

best wishes
Jed.

HI there.
Definitely keep tabs on your weight. Once it starts dropping, it can get out
of control. I dropped 40+ pounds, my large intestine collapsed and I had to
be fed intervenously for 4 months. The doctors let me slip through the cracks
which is why that happened, don't want that to happen to you.
Do you have a nutritionalist? If not, you should consider getting a referral for one.

Well today was the start of my prep to clear my bowels for tommorrows procedure of an endoscopy/colonoscopy.
I cannot hold down the prep at all and am now pooing solid red blood with mucus and feel so so sick and naseated and am real scared about this one.
I have never had problems with prep or even felt this way before, and I have done a few. I was actually somewhat fine up until I started taking the prep today. The sickness feeling is so, so bad, the pain seemed to increase a little or it is the bloating feeling.
Called my Doctor, he told me to stop taking it and continue the rest of the day with clear liquids and everything is still scheduled as planned for tommorrows procedure, but that doesn't help how I feel now so, so very sick right now. I wish it would go...

WOW I hate this, wish me well for tommorrow.

Sincerely and Respectfully, Gary

P.S. Sorry for the repeat, still figuring out how to use forum correctly

hate hearing about people having a rough time with these preps, its horrible!

the first one i had administered when i got put in hospital felt like razor water, or acid, getting pumped into me. agony.

hang in there Gary, just prep as well as you can, they can still see around inside you pretty well.

Jed

As I said I would I am writing to let you all know what happened with my endoscopy/colonoscopy today.

All is well, I am just having a major flare-up, thank GOD that is all as I know it will pass in time, I hope anyways.

The Doctor prescribed the following Medications/Treatment Plan: Resume Asocol 3 times by 3 times daily, Prednisone 20mg tommorrow am, 15mg next day am, then 10mg for one day am, Prilosec 20mg daily. And rest, which I really need to start doing more of.
I sure am glad its just a flare and not a major surgical outcome.

Sincerely and Respectfully, Gary

P.S. To those of you who are having things worse, I wish you ALL well and the best of luck with everything. Thank you also for the people who take the time to read and help on this forum. I will do my best to do the same as I do not feel alone anymore.

Whew!! Glad to hear that there is no sugery required!! That's gotta be a huge relief!! Now...RELAX for a bit!! haha. Take the time to feel better...it sucks being stuck on the couch or in bed...but trust me...your bum will thank you :)

Gary
Hope the meds will keep everything under control now. I take Asacol and it kept me under control for years. It's quite a mild drug too (I think) but not everyone has the same success with it.
