Yesterday morning I thought I would try the Mio bag that was sent to me. I worked all day then went to dinner with a friend sitting in dinner I put my hand in my lap and guess what was there? a pile of poo wow!! that was embarrassing. I excused myself to go to the restroom cleaned up enough to go back out to the table. I left shortly after that and cried most of the way home. I got home and I was a hot mess. On my pants under my shirt it was everywhere I just jumped in the shower put a new bag on and went to bed. I have a convetec 2 piece on now I don't seem to have leaks with these only with coloplast. But I have had several leaks since surgery 7 weeks ago. Im guess Im not putting these on right or something. Thanks for reading im just venting.

Aww that's awful. Definitely don't try new products when going out because you never know if they will work with your skin or body contour.

Don't feel bad, it's all new and a learning curve. It's normal to have leaks in the beginning till you get into a routine that works for you.

Sorry to hear that happened. You handled it really well! I hope you don't let this discourage you.

Sounds like you had a crappy time! (excuse my potty humor). Leaks really suck, but you handled it the best you could.

I almost never try a new appliance unless I know that I won't need to leave the house for the time I'm trying it, but it's completely understandable if you simply can't do that - heck, you expect these appliances to work pretty well for just about everyone, but sometimes they just don't work for people.

You mentioned that it was the Mio that you had tried - some people find that the Mio just doesn't stick as well as other products, as it's made to be really gentle at the expense of security. If you're going to try another Coloplast product, try the Sensura Xpro (meant for more aggressive ileo/urostomy output.). But... if the Convatec products work for you, stick with those.

I'm so sorry. I've had that happen.

It is a learning curve. I almost never have leaks and when I do it's usually at night when sleeping. It gets better when as you become an expert and you've found a system you like.

You really did cope well. I had a couple of leaks caused the backplate not sticking properly. I ended up wearing an elasticated support belt which gave me loads of confidence in whatever situation I was in as it ensured the backplate was always held firmly in place

I have a belt but havnt used it yet I've been wearing tank tops under my shirts to kind of hold the bag in place. I guess I'm not ready for the mio just yet. Yesterday my output was very thin I'm use to it being mostly thick. It seams the thinner the output the more problems I have. Thanks for everyone's responses.

If your output is thinner their are products for that too.

Our ostomy nurse suggested using the Belly Band to hold the bag in place. If you get tired of tank tops! It's sold at Target in the maternity dept. It's original purpose is to hold pregnant girls pants up! My son won't go without it. He likes his bag to stay close and not move around. They come in white/black/beige. Made out of spandex and no seams.

Good idea I was just at target yesterday I'll be going back. I did get a belt as was mentioned. I like it on but by evening when I'm settled down it bothers me probably because I'm not use to but I can tell u I have less problems if my bag is in place I've only changed my bag 2 times in 6 days so it's getting better I think I wasn't putting the opening of the pouch close enough around my stoma also I was afraid I would block the output by putting it to close.that's probably why I had skin irritation also.I have not has another episode like that I'm uber carefull making sure the bag is tight enough and belt along with tank to for extra security.

Pleased it's working out for you. I was a little worried that the belt would stop the stoma from working properly but I never had a problem. I was initially changing my bag every other day but switched to daily as I felt it was more hygenic and it meant the adhesive on the backplate was always fresh. (In the UK all our stoma supplies, including the belt, are supplied free by the NHS)

Well I have good health insurance. I live in the states our health system is bad as far cost we have good medical provider but everything is so expensive I did get a belt also bought a maternity band also tube tops work the same way. I've actually started back stocking my supplies just in case I was to loose my insurance. I feel a like a squirrel gathering nuts for the winter the way Im hording supplies. LOL
