My abdomen is really painful right now not enough to make me want to go to A&E though I'm in the same flare as I was 7 months ago :ymad:, I have already rung up my doctor but he said he can't get me in for another appointment just yet :ybatty: :( I haven't been able to empty my bowels for a while even though I have been drinking 4 laxido everyday and I have been drinking plenty fluids, the pain seems to be mainly in the left hand side and it has now moved to my right side, but on the left I appear to have a rash only on that side :confused2: the pain is making my back, hips and my legs hurt along with other symptoms as well  right now I feel like death :hallo3:

I just want it too end already, so I can be in remission for once in my life :(.

Anyone have any ideas as to what I could do??
Thanks :)

Why can't your doc get you in for an appointment? Is he busy or you can only see him X amount of times in a certain period? I am so sorry you have to deal with pain :( ((((hugs))))

He didn't say why he just said to me that he can't get me another appointment, so I'm guessing that he is just busy :(

They should have emergency/urgent appointments that you can have if it is really bad. Don't let then fob you off it sounds like you need to see someone. Can you see an Ibd nurse they are sometimes a bit easier to get an appointment with and the one I see is brilliant. Hope you get some help soon x

Thanks :) I'm not too sure if they have emergency/urgent appointments I going to have to find out, I don't have an Ibd nurse which is weird and annoying :ybatty:

HorseLover!! I don't personally know what you're going through, but just wanted to say hi and give hugs and support.

Have you been diagnosed with any narrowing? Because not being able to pass stool at all could definitely point to a blockage, surely? Your sig says that you nearly died twice(!). Why are they not taking your symptoms more seriously??

Please consider going to A&E, or simply just your GP for some advice..

For the constipation, have you tried a suppository? I don't suffer from constipation so I have no idea if they'll be helpful, but it might be worth a try?

For the pain, try heating up a hot water bottle or a wheat bag.

Thank Thunderstorm :) no I haven't been diagnosed with any narrowing, yeah I nearly died twice because my doctors weren't taking any of my symptoms seriously :( so now it's kind of like they will only take me seriously if I nearly die first :( that's when they start taking me seriously :( great I can't wait for the next time I nearly die :( Not!! :ymad:. yeah I tried suppositories but they don't work :( I have had to up my laxido to 6 a day :( still not working :(.

Is it a consultant who won't see you or a GP? You can always get an appointment with a GP - it won't necessarily be one you see regularly (if you do see one regularly). It varies depending on which area you live in, but there will usually be urgent appointments available on the day if you call in the morning. (This won't apply on weekends or New Year's day, etc.)

Your appointment with a consultant can be brought forward if your GP feels there is a need for it - e.g. if your symptoms are worsening quickly or you have new symptoms that your GP doesn't feel capable of dealing with. You may still be waiting several weeks for an appointment with a consultant though.

Anything that you don't think can wait until after New Years you'll probably need to go to A&E for - you don't have to be dying, if you are really in severe pain they may be able to provide you with stronger pain meds than you can buy over-the-counter. Of course now that will mean braving A&E on New Year's Eve... so you should probably consider just how bad your pain is before attempting that.

What pain relief have you tried?

it's both that can't see me my consultant is busy and my GP's/doctors surgery is so busy they say they haven't got any appointment available :( my pain is bad but I can probably stick it out until I can get an appointment all A&E does for me is the same thing over and over again so I'm trying to avoid going there, but I will go if I really need to.

As for pain relief I tried paracetamol first off but after a while it didn't even touch the pain, so I'm now taking co-codamol in the hope it still works until I get an appointment.

I'm not sure what co-codamol is, but it sounds like it might have codeine in it, and if it does, be careful because that can bung you up even more! Sorry you are in such pain. Hope you get some relief soon.

A&E should be a last resort. A&E deals with things that need immediate attention - painkillers for acute pain, fluids for dehydration, assessment of potential emergencies where a delay in treatment could lead to death or long term illness. They're not for treating the regular symptoms of chronic conditions, so they likely will tell you the same thing once they've established you're not in an immediate crisis.

I was going to say the same - codeine is a stronger painkiller than paracetamol but it can cause/worsen constipation.
