I did a full week of 30mg, tapering down to 25mg this past weekend. The past weekend was emotional hell. I was crying most of the weekend, it was like the worst PMS ever multiplied by a zillion (ok, well, that might be an exaggeration - but you get the 'just' of what I'm saying).

I swear, that this must be one of the worst drugs for mental/emotional side effects, and thank god I have a wonderful man who didn't try to cover my face with a pillow while I was sleeping!!!!!

Tapering can definitely be rough. I hope the rest of your taper goes more smoothly. However, if you are having extreme emotional side effects you might call your GI or GP and see if they can give you something for it. I hate medicating side effects, but sometimes it's the best way to cope. At least now you are tapering off and will be off of the Pred soon. Good luck.

In the past when Ive started on 40mg I was emotionally an absolute mess and also found it impossible to sleep until getting down to less than 20 mg, Its a great short term drug for crohns symptoms but it comes with some really bad side effects that sometimes make me think if its worth it. Im mentally unstable at the best of times without being on pred! Hopefully things will get better as you reduce your dose.

Nic and Martin, thanks for responding.

I'm not even completely convinced that this drug is working for me. I still have the LRQ pain, the only upside is that I have a bit more energy. I'm not looking forward to another taper. I will be seeing my GP on Friday to review my blood work (I'm sure that my b12 etc....are in the toilet or close to) and I'll discuss the side effects at that time.

But, really, I don't even think I'd wish this drug on my worst enemy....or would i?!?!? hmmmmm

hahaha I hated this drug, didnt help me much as I was too far into a flare ( i guess) Everytime i tapered I became moody, very tired etc. Just grin and bare it I guess but if its too much tell you doc and im sure they can slow it down

I always run a fever when tapering. The day after come off the pred I start running a fever which lasts a day or two...it really sucks
