Just wondering, since we all get sick with other things besides flares, what meds you all take for colds, flus, etc. I have one right now, sinus thing with bad headache, stuffy nose, etc. I don't want to take anything that could interfere with the prednisone. :sign0085: Thanks!

I take either paracetamol (Tylenol) or what we have here just called 'cold and flu remedy' or similar- it contains paracetamol, caffeine and epinephrine.

Also, if I'm really stuffed up I do steam inhalations (get a bowl of steaming water, put your face over it, and put a towel like a tent over your head and the bowl, breathe in the steam).

Menthol is good for clearing the airways- we have Albas Oil and Vicks here which are strong smelling stuff you out on a tissue ir chest and breathe to clear your nose.

You could also try a saline nasal spray, but I don't like the sensation!

I have candida, so I take nizoral, which is an antifungal. Also vitamins such as bit d, c with garlic, fish oil, and two probiotics, which I take sometimes twice a day, as with candida flares, you can feel very dehydrated, and I get a white coating on my tongue which is so embarrassing.

I take an inhaler and a corticosteroid for asthma. My GI knows and approves those drugs. I take paracetamole (In Greece is called Depon) for pains and some nasal spray called Otrivin for stuffy nose. I did not need antibiotics after I was diagnosed till now. And I hope I will not need in the future too.

Rebecca had a good comment about steaming over bowl (sink) of boiling water with a towel over your head. You may want to put a little liquid Vicks in it, to help open up your nasal passages. Your skin will look great after this as well!

Thank you! I appreciate all of your input! I will try Vicks and the steam! Sounds like a great relief! I was really looking for over the counter meds, so I will give that a try and then ask my GI what else I can take if it gets worse. :) Thanks again!
