Hi everybody, so I am not sure if this is the appropriate forum or if it should go into treatment but anyways... I have been on methotrexate for 9 years now and it finally seems to have stopped working. When my symptoms returned my doctor put me on steroids (sorry don't have the pill bottle to put the name) and increased my dose of methotrexate to see if that would do the trick. But right now doesn't seem to be so I was wondering if anyone knows what the next step is? I have never been on medication besides methotrexate for any real length of time ( was on asacol previously). Is there a standard sequence of medications he will try?

Any advice/ experience would be great thanks

HI CDN, welcome to the forum you did come to the right place. There are alot more medications out there that you and your doctor could try Humira, Imuran, Remicade, Cimza, 6mp just to name a few there are others. People in this forum have been on most of everything so i am sure others of this forum will have some input just be patient and the forum will answer. This place is very supportive and well knowledged in the way of medications and other treatment plans. The next step is to take to your doctor of starting you on another drug regimen and see will it work. the steroids that they usually put you on is predisone but i am not sure that is the one your on. There are other steriods out there too entocort, budesonide and others. so i would go back to see your GI specialist and see what he may suggest. you can go under search and then search wiki and just punch in drugs and search this will bring up all the drugs you will need to know. best wishes.
