What's the difference in Entocort and Ucetis?

I was previously on entocort while breastfeeding my son and told it was perfectly safe. I'm now seeing a different GI who's assistant put me on Uceris but wanted me to research on my own to see if it was safe while nursing. The pharmacist said it wasn't safe. If it's the same drug, I don't see how it wouldn't be safe. I can't find anything about it on lactmed. Does anyone know if there is a huge difference in the two? Or any moms on here that have taken it while breastfeeding?

They are both corticosteroids but uceris is the slow release version of entocort.

Can't help you beyond that.

Why can't you stay on the Entocort?

I would insist on speaking to the doctor and not the assistant if they can't tell you whether or not it is safe to take while breastfeeding. It is THEIR JOB to know such a basic question before they tell you to take a medication, not yours to find out after the fact. That's really lame and makes me angry!

You ought to consult with your obstetrician about the medications. They will know best on what is safe while breastfeeding.

Thanks, I'm speaking with a lactation specialist today. I was just hoping I could find info over the holiday so I could go ahead and start on it if need be. I was really impressed with the assistant the first time I met her but this time was a huge fail on her part.
