When can I chase my MRI results?

Hi All,

I had an MRI scan on Tuesday 24th September, when can I start chasing my results??

After the scan I was told the Consultant Radiologist was off sick! Surely they have more than 1 at a big NHS hospital?

I'm fed up of being ill, just want answers!

I think you have every right to start demanding them. That's ridiculous and unfair.

Well if they are still off sick that will be one hell of a backlog! I'm with you, surely there would be more that one radiologist to interpret the results.

As to the time frame under which results should be delivered in normal circumstances. My son has had CT's and CTE's (done both privately and public) and the results have been available either that day or next as an outpatient and the same day as an inpatient.

Thanks to you both I have phoned and left a message for my IBD nurse at hospital, hopefully she'll rung me back tomorrow!

Well it's now 10 days after the scan and I still haven't had any news phoned crohns nurse twice but no reply! What can I do?!

Hi, I've had an MRI on the NHS. It took me 14 days to get the results.

Thanks very much for that Jamie, my nurse phoned me today and told me they hadn't had the results yet.

That is horrible. I don't know how NHS works but that seems totally unfair and dangerous if you have a problem needing urgent care. Sorry

Exactly noguts it's beyond a joke, my consultant told me he wanted me to have an urgent MRI I waited over 4 weeks and now it's another 12 days for results! In my books that's not urgent! I do agree it is dangerous
