I need to figure out if I should be on my way to the ER or not.
I've been on Humira for 10 months, but the last four months have been nothing but problems. First, it was the occasional stiff and swollen joint, then it got worse and worse until I felt crippled. I was put on prednisone and norco for the pain and inflammation.i tapered off, twice, and each time, it happened again! Yesterday, I saw my doc for chest pains and shortness of breath, so, I wound up on more prednisone, yay! Today, I took a big poop, and there was bright red blood in the bowl, which isn't unusual, (aren't hemorrhoids lovely!), but 12 hours later, I'm still wiping blood off my butt! I just missed work, and my hubby is gone, so...I'm so confused. Being sick and in pain all the time has robbed me of my ability to make sound decisions.

If it is unusual, I would go to the ER. They can at least put your mind at ease if it is nothing

I have a recurring ulcer that just won't seem to go away right in my rectum and a fissure that comes and goes. Both things require a little different treatment, but if the blood is bright red it means it's right by the opening. If it is really painful and feels scary, go to the ER by all means. In my experience, if you can contact a IBD nurse or leave your doctor a note, they will be able to much better help you. But first, make sure you feel comfortable with that, if you feel like it is scary or are losing too much blood, definitely go to the ER, otherwise, I would get an appointment as soon as possible to evaluate your options. Sorry you are having to deal with this!
