Maybe too much info for some but here goes...

Yesterday when I went to the loo I had a bm that had many white parts in it. It was not mucus or bits of food but was part of the bm. (not easy to describe!) ;) the other parts were of a normal colour.
I went again later and this had swirls (like rasberry ripple) of white and yellow in it. Again it was definitely not mucus or food based.
I saw a GP today (not one I'd seen before) and he said just to monitor it but it was nothing to worry about.

has anyone else had this and if so is it anything to be concerned about.

I've also had white particles in my BM. My doc wasn't sure but reckoned it could be calcium which had not been properly digested in the bowel.

The white bits went away after a week or so and i havent noticed anymore since. I don't think its anything to worry about.

Thanks JC1919.
Can I ask how big the bits were?
Mine weren't really bits but part of the formed bm. The part that you would normally expect to be brown rather than little bits like when you find sweetcorn in it!

No problem. Yes, mine formed part of the BM. They were smallish, probably half the size of a 5p coin. Not sure about your rasberry ripple swirls though! Have you thought about getting a sample tested?

Ha. It's not very easy to explain! My first bm had much larger areas of White but then the second was just swirls.
I've hardly been today but did see some White in what I did produce!
My doc didn't seem concerned but if it continues I might check with my GI
Thanks again

Thanks Brindle. I struggled to find anything online yesterday that really referred to it...
Guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it and get in touch again if no improvement

Thanks Crabby. I had found a few similar articles but was hoping that if I asked on here lots of people would say "oh yes that's pretty normal"!
GP didn't seem concerned so I guess I shouldn't be and my bms today don't seem so bad. Just a few little patches...

Could it be the pentasa capsule if your taking it?
i was about to ask the same thing lol. i wouldnt worry, bm's change constantly depending on whatever you've eaten, the raspberry swirls you describe sounds like a little streaks of blood possibly which i would keep an eye on more.
