So I went for my 6 month check up with my GI yesterday and he said everything in my blood work looks good, liver enzymes were good, white blood cells were good, everything.
So what Im still a little confused about is that sometime I stll have D and all all mucous and even some blood ocasionally. Wouldnt that mean there is some inflimation? And that mean having elevated white blood cells??
Elevated white blood cells are a indication of inflimation arent they? So if I have normal levels I should have no inflimaton and feel top notch shouldnt I??

Now dont get me wrong, I do feel pretty dam good, but still.....

Elevated White blood cells are a sign of infection. They usually measure inflammation with CRP (C-reactive protein) or ESR (sed rate).......

I have no idea why we still have D and mucus......It must be because the intestine does not absorb properly....This disease is a tricky one.

Do you know what your CRP/ESR values are.

Hmmm no I didnt ask about them, Im gonna see if next time I get blood drawn I can get them to send me the results aswell.

Yup, White cells are infection not inflammation. It may just be that we never have normal bowels, even when not inflamed? Glad you are feeling good though :)

Glad to hear things are going good. I pray they stay that way. Its so nice on this site because I get lots of info. for myself by reading questions and everybodys responses,Boy my new GiI is going to get his moneys worth because now I have an other question to add to my list . crp what ever that is. Just stinks a little at the thought of never haven normal bm though. Hey maybe you can call with your question and not have to wait since you just went.

Hi Fog Ducker,

Glad you are doing well. The thing is with markers of inflammation, unless you have been feeling bad in the past couple days, many will go back down. It could be that you are still occasionally feeling the signs of inflammation but when you go in to the doc, you are already back down to "normal". CRP levels may be a better marker, but some people have low levels even if they have active inflammation.
