Why do I DO this to myself?

Lately, I've been eating the same exact thing every day because it's all I can seem to handle:
Breakfast: Nature Valley apple cinnamon granola bar
Lunch: Macaroni and cheese
Dinner: peanut butter shake (fat-free, no sugar added vanilla ice cream, reduced-fat peanut butter, and skim milk)

If I eat other things, I get sick. I know some of the things that make me really, really sick.... but sometimes I can't stand eating the same things over and over again.

For example, every time I eat seasoned fries (like Ore Ida's Crispy Crowns), I am sick as hell (not immediately after, but when it's digested). I have intense pain, stomach spasms, and diarrhea.

So, I decide to "punish" myself. Like I did last night... and I'm paying for it today.

Why do I do this to myself? Do any of you do the same?

Because it tastes good. And like you said, you get tired of eating the same thing over and over. Sometimes you just have to eat it knowing full well you'll pay for it. But you have to have some enjoyment.

I'll do the same thing with popcorn or chips and salsa from time to time. I used to eat an entire bag of popcorn while reading and now it tears me up. Still, there's an occasional day where I've just gotta eat some. Not much, just enough. I also used to tear through an entire jar of salsa. Now I can't tolerate the chips, so I have to use pringles, which hold up alright, but just don't taste the same with the salsa.

Any french fry beats the crap out of my bowels. No idea why. I get gas, bloating, craploads of pain, though oddly I can eat fried potatoes from a skillet........try to figure that one out. ~_^ One of these days I'll catalogue all the foods I've given up, or mostly given up.

I'm on the SCD and I occasionally have some dark chocolate or a gluten-free cookie....

or like yesterday when I had samurai sams and had cramping and fatigue today :(

I feel ya. Sometimes you just give in.

Heard! I totally indulged on grits when I was in Charleston over Memorial Day weekend. I couldn't resist. I still love grits, even if my butt doesn't.

I did it again last night :(
I went to Bar Louie and had their queso fries... feeling like hell today.
I want so badly to be "normal," so I try to eat "regular people" food, but then I end up feeling worse.
IDK.

:( sorry sorry!
queso fries sound...good and like a major killer. curl up, rest and try to take it easy!
