Xifaxan/ Rifaxamin -- please help!

I've been having some improvement recently but still many days of heavy diarrhea that are interfering with my functioning and causing secondary issues like painful fissures!

My doctor says he strongly believes that I have a bacterial overgrowth in my intestines. In the past, I took a short course of Xifaxan which helped immensely with little side effects. They were samples -- I took about a month's worth.

This time he'd like to put me on 3 months to knock this bacteria out. My insurance is giving me hell with approving it because of the cost -- it's been two months now and still no approval. I cannot afford it and the company only helps people with hepatic encephalopathy financially.

The alternative antibiotics - flagyl, cipro and levaquin cause me more distress than help.

Has anyone ever found a reliable source to get it overseas? I have the script. I know this is sort of taboo but I am desperate.

Also, I want to mention I've been taking oregano oil daily for months to try to help with this and though I had little improvement, it isn't enough.

My husband got some from India. Our daughter had a prescription that we filled locally -- talk about sticker shock! -- so we decided to get the next batch from overseas. I will PM you with the details.

It helped my daughter, too. At least, we think it did.
