As some of you may already know, I am working on a campaign for Crohn's and IBD awareness. There will not be any links to anything relating to the campaign at the moment, because it is still not complete and I was requested by an administrator to have it reviewed by them first before officially launching the campaign.

The campaign will consist of a crowd-funding to donate for the Crohn's and IBD awareness. As most of you can tell, CD, UC, and IBD is not being researched enough to the point of it severity. That is where we all come into play. This donation will be put towards more research development into actually finding a cure rather than another type of medication that will put money in the pockets of corporations and just cause more side effects to the victims. Also if we become successful in the funding we can also support the people that cannot afford some of the treatments; for the people in need. I am hoping that this campaign becomes "viral" to the point where it brings more attention to government agencies so we can hopefully gain more of there support.

I want everyone to have the chance to have there input into this campaign, because this is everyone's chance to help themselves and the world. If there is anything you'd love to see in this campaign, please post it here and I will keep coming back to reply to all of your posts. I'd like to thank everyone's support from now.

Yours truly,

AJE

While I like the thought, it would be nice if you linked this into existing groups so that you aren't splitting potential resources. I am absolutely certain that you could link up with a group like the crohn's and colitis foundation if you have a good model for fundraising. They do have an active group in Toronto - check them out and possibly volunteer!

The main point for this campaign is to create awareness to the public. Its really sad, because before I got diagnosed with Crohn's, I never heard of it before. Also considering the severity of this disease its horrible how the media and the government dont put enough attention on it. We welcome any sponsors to this campaign, so if you have any contacts please make sure to get them involved or get a hold of me. Thank you! Please more, I want to hear everyone's suggestions and opinions.

aje,

First, I want to say that this is a nice idea and I wish you luck.

Now a couple of thoughts...
This donation will be put towards more research development into actually finding a cure rather than another type of medication that will put money in the pockets of corporations and just cause more side effects to the victims.
I'm not really sure what this means, but it comes across as rather negative. It is nice to aim for a cure, but I'm not sure that is realistic, nor do I think there are researchers who are ONLY researching cures and not treatments.

Second, maybe I'm weird, but I don't look at corporations/drug companies as the enemy here. I don't think making them the enemy is going to solve anything.

Also if we become successful in the funding we can also support the people that cannot afford some of the treatments; for the people in need.
Actually, I think that is almost a better goal than toss a couple of extra dollars at research.

I agree very strongly with shamrock15 about this. I too have participated in some Crohn's and Colitis Foundation events and they seem like a good group. I don't see a point in competing with them.
