MR Enterography vs. Small Bowel Follow Through

If you click on each test(in your post each test is highlighted and therefore a link) it will give you details about each test from the forum wiki. The SBFT involves radiation and is a series of xrays while barium travels through your bowels. The MRE is magnetic resonance imaging that doesn't...

    New MTX side effect?

Is her CD in remission? Sometimes, CD can be found there, oralfacial CD. A common symptom of that can be swollen lips. C has not had side effects with MTX. When first starting remicade he had a blister (swollen lip) show up on the way home from infusion but benedryl took care of it in within an...

European Agency Recommends Approval of Stelara to Treat Crohn’s Disease

My son's maintenance dose is 90 mg injection every 8 weeks. His loading dose wasn't an IV infusion though. He had (3) 90 mg shot on day 0, (1) 90 mg shot on day 30 and then maintenance of 90mg every 8 weeks.

    Much Ado About Nothing! eh!

Yeah, I was really starting to get nervous but counting Thursday we've had 4 fever free wake ups! I'm so thankful! I haven't felt completely comfortable until this morning. But it does seem whatever it was it has passed.

Which prometheus test? The one that checks trough levels, the one for antibodies or the genetic one that determines between UC and CD? At one time, there was only that(prometheus labs) that carried out thone tests. I've not heard that it has changed.

    Much Ado About Nothing! eh!

Hey guys fever broke Thursday and hasn't occurred since. GP says more than likely viral and we'll probably never know what exactly it was. Still, he's waiting on another call about the blood cultures and if any thing has shown up in them. It was negative after 2 or 3 days but that was early he...

    Stricture - duodenum

Oh I'm so sorry to her the news. C's stricture at his ileocecal valve was determined to be chronic inflammation but there were areas of fibrotic tissue, as well. It really didn't matter whether it was inflammation or scar tissue for him since there was concern that due to the length of time the...

My Extremely Weird Prometheus Blood Draw...

Dave13, there are different tests that Prometheus jas. There are the two you mentioned but there are also in depth genetic tests that can be helpful in determining between CD and UC and a couple more I think.

We're to call the GP on Friday is the fevers aren't completely gone then he's going to give us the names of some colleagues in infectious disease, one in a med size city an hour away and the other in ATL. So, we'll choose and make an appt. Oh he still really thinks it's viral and is fizzling...

    NG tube vs G Tube

My son had the NG tube. He also inserted it each night and removed it each morning. He was 15 or 16 at the time. There was a girl in his class who had one as well and she left hers in. The first week was rough because the tube size but we switched to 6 fr on the 4th day and never looked back...

Still having fevers but the fevers aren't 24/7 anymore nor are they getting as high. The past two days he is fever free til about 12 or 1 then the fever starts climbing. Where he was spiking 103 it is now around 100. Can be controlled with Tylenol and advice whereas in the beginning neither...

    Diarrhea

My son was on humira. He moved to weekly to help control the inflammation. He was also on methotrexate injections in addition to the humira. For most people, combo therapy works well. And moving the humira to weekly is common and does help some people. When you find a med to control the CD you...

I'm a Newbie and I need your help.

Since Crohn's disease is a chronic illness most GIs don't like to prescribe pain meds instead they seek to get the inflammation under control which in turn gets rid of the pain. There is a Diet section on the forum you may want to browse and get others' experiences. You'll find members that use...

No diagnosis, intense pain 24/7 for 20 months

Fecal calprotectin is a great test. I would get several results over a period of time though. My son has Crohn's disease. He has never reached remission so he has had ongoing inflammation. The fecal calprotectin test has been a good monitoring tool but it's not fail proof. He has twice had...

Okay went to the GP today. He ran more blood work. He said we'd wait for the cultures to get back. He hopes it's a self limiting viral illness but if hubby has 2 more days of fever then he sending him to an infectious disease specialist. Still running fevers today but didn't start til after lunch.

Yes they've done it twice. So far everything they've tested has come back normal. Today the highest his fever has been is 102.7. This is the 6th or 7th day. His first dose today which was Tylenol and motrin was the only time he didn't have fever. Since then it been Tylenol then motrin and the...

Yeah I don't know what to think. We have a new puppy but it's on flea and tick med, he works outside with the phone company. He's pulled two ticks off of him from work and there was a knot with one of them. But that was in May and the end of July. I guess we'll go to the GP tomorrow then go...

So weird things going in with the Hubby. Last Monday he started with low grade fevers and body/joint aches. No other sympyims. We figured it was viral. Thursday, we went to urgent care. Still only fevers and body aches. Fevers spiking 103. Negative flu test, CBC looked good white count low...
