    Fleshy lumps around stoma

I have a couple of fleshy lumps on one side of my stoma. They bleed a lot when bumped. I assumed it was perhaps just the bag rubbing on them or too much pressure from the convex bag or the belt I wear. Now I'm going to look at the granulomas picture. Wish me well.......:)

    Is your ileostomy output regular?

Hi Unxmas, how are things going now? firstly I think output is an individual thing. Like normal poo's some people go a few times (or more) a day, others only go every couple of days. Its only if you have a change in your normal pattern that you need to worry. The amitriptyline could definitely be...

    Stoma odor

yes well when you think what the bowel normally copes with it really is pretty tough - other than bleeding easily. I can't think of any food grade thing but maybe someone else can help.

    Stoma Support Group

yes I think it all depends on whether you have a well behaved stoma or one that creates problems from the beginning. The good news is that most problems resolve in the first few months and things get easier the longer you have one. The first few months I really thought I had done the wrong thing...

    finding partners and nursing plans

Welcome to our group Bumontherun. Vegan sums it up pretty well. Anyone who accepts you, stoma and all, is a true keeper. If someone is put off by it good riddance to them. i think its only natural to want a partner in life. Nothing to be ashamed of there. Obviously we can and do survive without...

Advice on reversal and general advice

Hi Umair, welcome to our group. I had my first stoma reversed but pretty well immediately got sick and a year and a half later had to get another one. But I think for most people reversals are permanent. It just depends on how aggressive your crohn's is and what part of the bowel it is...

    Stoma odor

If you are using a two piece then you could remove the bag to clean your stoma with some tissue and warm water but I wouldn't put anything else directly onto your stoma. The smell is probably bile which tends to smell like vomit. I just read in the Australian Stoma Magazine of a man who wiped...

Ileostomy surgery tomorrow - relieved, excited and a little intrigued!!

Hmmm. Not that I can think of at the moment but I'll let you know if I think of anything. I do know there is a company that does fecal transplant in Sydney. If you need more info at a later date I'll look it up for you. Just let me know. Methotrexate may work. It gave me liver problems and is a...

What brand do you think is best for an ileostomy bag?

Hollister, Salts and Coloplast don't work for me (leaks and poor adhesion) but Welland does. It really is an individual choice depending on skin type, tummy shape, stoma shape etc etc. The only thing to do is try all the samples the companies will send to you to see what works. There may also be...

Ileostomy surgery tomorrow - relieved, excited and a little intrigued!!

Same boat same story. Thank God for Pred. My GI is starting me on a new (?) drug called tacrolimus. Apparently its horrendously expensive (but aren't they all?) but he thinks the hospital will fund it cos its cheaper than having me in there. Maybe ask your GI about it Samboi? Other than that...

Ileostomy surgery tomorrow - relieved, excited and a little intrigued!!

Oh Samboi I am so sorry this is happening to you. Hang in there, hopefully its just a temporary blimp. Have you had any luck with the 6mp? Are you able to reduce the pred? I don't find it gives me constipation but we are all different. What about adding metamucil to your diet to help things...

    Mucus discharge soiling underwear

Mucus discharge seems to depend on the person. Some have it a couple of times a day, others only once a month or so.

    News of colostomy bag

I much prefer my ileostomy to spending months in hospital like I used to. Its nearly been a year since I was last in hospital (other than day surgery) Yippee. Like Susan I don't love my ileostomy but its better than the alternatives, Colostomys are easier to deal with than ileostomys too as the...
