Question for the ladies - contraception!

Unfortunately bad periods seem to be a common thing with IBD. I've had no bleeding at all since I had the implant at all. I've been lucky and have got on really well with it and haven't noticed any side effects except for the sore arm for a few days or so.

Question for the ladies - contraception!

Hi chick. I had a similar issue where I was on the mini pill and was told it might not be absorbing properly. I was on it because of very painful periods rather than for contraception, so at first that didn't bother me but over time I noticed my periods were coming back and were just as painful...

    My current situation

Hi everyone MLP - I haven't been on steroids for about 6 months now. I came off them when I was on inflectra and I didn't go back on them afterward. Due to me having surgery etc they didn't want me on them due to blood risk and also they generally want to keep me off them as much as possible...

    My current situation

I've been admitted to the hospital. I called the out of hours service and they sent me to see a doctor who sent me in to hospital. I've been put on fluids and they want to look at my pain management and I'm going to have an iron infusion in the morning.

    My current situation

Hey guys, really not doing so well the past week. I have had increasingly severe abdominal pain which reached a peak yesterday, I managed to get an emergency slot with a GP but it was a doctor I haven't seen before and they didn't really seem to understand what I needed. They did a test for a...

How bad is bad enough to go to the hospital?

Usually if it's got to a point where you're wondering about going to the hospital, it's time to go. We all know our own bodies and we know if something isn't right, so trust your insincts and go if you feel that you need to. They can give pain relief and anti sickness, and they may admit you...

Two questions. Colonoscopy worries and head feeling fuzzy

You're doing great :) make sure you're keeping up the clear fluids. The more water, squash and black coffee or tea you drink the better. Nothing with red colouring though. If you have clear mints, sucking them will really help wind and nausea.

Diagnosed 1 year ago and just had my first surgery

Hello, welcome to the forum :) So, firstly, get some blood tests to check for vitamin deficiencies, I know you said they tried an iron infusion and you had a reaction, but there are a few different ones that can be used so they should be able to offer an alternative to the one you had before...

Diagnosed with Crohn's a Couple Days Ago

Hello there, welcome to the forum Crohn's is one of those conditions that sneaks up on you, it can show very few symptoms right up until it becomes severe, so its really important to catch it and get it under control as soon as possible. I know you don't feel unwell enough to be on a...

    My current situation

Hey guys, bit of an update for you, I had my first proper vedo infusion on Monday and there were no issues this time, it was really quick going through, took longer being watched afterwards than actually having the infusion, eventually they wont need to watch me though I'll be able to leave as...

    Still undiganosed after ten years

Yes sorry I re-read your post and edited mine before you replied again. It is possible though that things have changed since the last one so it may still be worth a go. I highly recommend that scan, Mri and colonoscopies and a pill cam missed my relapse but a white cell scan found it. I'm...

    Still undiganosed after ten years

Another option is something called a white cell scan. They take some blood and remove the white blood cells from it, then tag them with a mildly radioactive substance and then re-inject them and scan using a gamma camera to see where the white blood cells have gone. If there is an area with a...

1 Year Diagnosed Crohns Sufferer Feeling completely lost! :(

Hello, welcome to the forum. I'm sorry that you are having so many problems. It's horrible the way the system abandons people in this country. I'm a little confused about their attitude to your infliximab treatment, the whole point of it is to lower inflammation, so I don't see their logic in...

    Still undiganosed after ten years

Hello, welcome to the forum, It sounds as though you may have a narrowing somewhere in your bowel, what you are describing is very much like what I experienced when I had a stricture at the end of my small bowel. You mention you have had tests, can I ask what these were? It is possible for...

Two questions. Colonoscopy worries and head feeling fuzzy

I understand, I truly do, I was only 14 when I had my first endoscopy and 19 for the first colonoscopy. I was terrified, but I took a deep breath and trusted my doctors. I know it's daunting, but the more stressed you are going into it the worse it will be. I've now had 4 colonoscopies and 2...

Not happy with treatment, need advice

You're very welcome :). If you don't find the buscopan helps very much then you could ask about alverine citrate, it's a similar medication but slightly better for our type of spasms. My IBD nurse switched me to it. If you have any other questions or need any other support please ask us.

Not happy with treatment, need advice

It sounds like you have inflammation in more than one area then, which would mean pentasa may be a little more effective, but unfortunately its not that easy to tell. Did they do anything about the abscesses or did they resolve on their own? I always have horrible pain after my scopes, I feel...

Not happy with treatment, need advice

Hello, welcome to the forum, Firstly, you can ask for a second opinion at the hospital, if you tell the nurses you want to see a different consultant they will tell you how to go about it, so if you still feel you would like to see someone else then try that. Secondly, there are lots of...

Two questions. Colonoscopy worries and head feeling fuzzy

Hello there, I'm sorry you're feeling so worried, but there is honestly no need to be. They have to tell us those risks, they are legally obliged so that we can give proper informed consent, they tell us because they have to, not because they think it will happen to us. As an example, I had...
