    Move to Weekly Humira

DS just turned 16. He was diagnosed a little over 6 years ago. Started with Remicade and achieved remission, but then he developed allergic reaction to it. Was able to go without meds for about 6 months before symptoms came back. Started Humira about 7 months ago. Never got the calprotectin...

    Colonoscopy Prep

DS had been in remission is now flaring. It's been a few years since scopes, so he is having upper/lower endoscopy to see how inflamed he is. His appointment is at 3:00 in the afternoon. The colonoscopy prep directions the hospital sent are the generic "start at 8:00" directions. If his...

    Remicade--Delayed Allergic Reaction

He has been taking antihistamines-- zyrtec, zantac, and benedryl daily. He also uses topical steroid ointments. None of this is making a dent in the rash or hives. They just keep getting worse. They are delaying his infusion to see if the skin issues improve. He's been in remission for over two...

    Remicade--Delayed Allergic Reaction

Has anyone gone through this? DS has been on Remicade for 3.5 years. He started developing hives and a rash in September. Did Anser test in December, which showed he has developed antibodies-- not high, but detectable. He has been to his pediatrician, his GI specialist, and allergist, and now...

    Remicade reactions?

14 yr old DS has been n Remicade for 3.5 yrs. he's having hives/rash. Anser test shows antibodies. Skin biopsy shows perivascular lymphocytic infiltrates. Trying to find cause of itching. I think it's Remicade. Anyway to tell for sure?

    Itching! Remicade?

allergist does think the bumps on his hands are Dyshirotic excema, but the rest of it is hives. Just got off the phone with the nurse, who reported that his Anser results came back with "slightly elevated" antibodies. They didn't think it was high enough to be causing a reaction, but had the dr...

    Itching! Remicade?

thanks for all the suggestions. His bumps are less fluid filled and aren't shiny. The bumps themselves almost look like tiny warts. We didn't even notice them until he pointed them out during his itching.

    Not molluscum. Much smaller.

    Itching! Remicade?

He itches everywhere. We've seen the patches of bumps on his hands (back of hand between thumb and pointer), also elbows. His stomach, back and legs usually don't get the bumps. We have been playing detective. At about the time of onset, his remicade dose was increased because he's bigger, he...

    Itching! Remicade?

He gets little un colored bumps, so I'm not sure I'd say hives. After GI Tuesday, he goes to allergist Thursday. He had allergy skin testing years ago, but he wasn't allergic to anything. The itching is driving us all crazy!

    Itching! Remicade?

DS is 14 and has been on Remicade for 3.5 years with no problems. For the past three months, he has had crazy itching. We have tried Benadryl, Atarax, Zyrtec, Zantac, cold compresses. He goes in for next infusion Tuesday. Could this be from remicade? Is there a way to test if it is?

MRE next week- need help with Contrast

My son had an MRe at 10. He is a very stoic kid, so when he teared up and said he couldn't drink it all, I took him seriously. The nurse told me it was the same dose for the 300 pound man also waiting. I asked if we could try it with half. It worked fine.

    Remicade growth

When my son was diagnosed, he was 10.5 and had started losing weight. He was 5'0" and fell to 72 lbs. after the first 3 loading doses, he started to gain weight, but no height growth. He started to slowly grow after 6 months, but no miracle growth (as I was also hoping for). At 1 year, all the...

    Remicade growth

My son started Remicade 2 years ago, when he was 10. The first year, he regained the weight he had lost and grew a little, and seemed "better." His scans showed a lot of improvement, but not fully clear. The second half of the second year has been amazing. In the 2 years, he has gained 35 lbs...

    Height Growth

My son was diagnosed at 10.5 Started Remicade 2 yrs ago. The first year on Remicade he regained the weight he lost and began growing like he had before but no significant shooting up as he had hoped. All bloodwork signified he was in remission. His scopes after one year were significantly...

    Was this bad news?

Talked to the doc today. Nothing new from biopsies, but she was also surprised there was active inflammation in the small intestines (might explain him still not gaining enough weight). His next Remicade infusion is 8/13. She is going to test his blood before his infusion to see what his...

    Was this bad news?

My son is 11, dx 5/2012. Started Remicade 7/2012. Has shown improvement. Blood tests come back normal;he's gained 15 pounds and grown a few inches. Had endo/colonoscopy today. I foolishly was expecting the, to say it looked all healthy. Biopsies will be back next week, but the visual showed...

    ADHD and Crohn's

I think his anemia is from the Crohn's. It has been improving since treatment began. His hemoglobin levels were at 8.4. They are up to 11.8, so we are going in the right direction. The only other blood value that is outside normal is glucose, which is high. Is that something that happens often...

    ADHD and Crohn's

Thanks for the ideas. We upped the ADD meds, but it's still not enough. I guess we get to go through figuring that all out again. I'd rather be worried about that than the Crohn's, which seems to be responding well to the remicade. Everything is going in the right direction. Still anemic, but...

    ADHD and Crohn's

Hi, So my son has been on Remicade for a few months. He was diagnosed ADHD before Crohn's, and has been on medicine for about 2 years. Now that he is feeling better-- almost all blood values are normal, too, his ADHD meds don't seem to be keeping up with the ADHD. The dr wants to up his dose...
