Itching! Remicade?

DS is 14 and has been on Remicade for 3.5 years with no problems. For the past three months, he has had crazy itching. We have tried Benadryl, Atarax, Zyrtec, Zantac, cold compresses.

He goes in for next infusion Tuesday. Could this be from remicade? Is there a way to test if it is?

Has he seen an allergist ? Dermatologist?
Puberty is prime time for new allergies to appear .
Skin tests or blood for pollens and ragweed ?
My kiddo is severely allergic
During his peak allergy season
He requires
Zyrtec plus dymista plus singular plus steriods eye drops
Plus allergy shots
And then still requires Benadryl on the off day
Two weeks ago had to take Zyrtec twice a day ( double the OTC dose
Allergist said sometimes they have to increase from there
And he still
Gets itchy

Has he tried Allegra ?
Different antihi

Any rashes with it?
Ds has sweets syndrome which looks like itchy hives but is seen with crohns

He gets little un colored bumps, so I'm not sure I'd say hives.

After GI Tuesday, he goes to allergist Thursday. He had allergy skin testing years ago, but he wasn't allergic to anything. The itching is driving us all crazy!

Hives would be pale splotches that are raised or can be pink. They move around. They show up in one place then move to another 15-30 minutes later.

Where are your son's itchies?

He itches everywhere. We've seen the patches of bumps on his hands (back of hand between thumb and pointer), also elbows. His stomach, back and legs usually don't get the bumps.

We have been playing detective. At about the time of onset, his remicade dose was increased because he's bigger, he switched adhd meds, and started taking fish oil. We've quit the fish oil and over thanksgiving went 5 days without add meds, which should be more than enough time to get out of system. That's why we are worried about remicade.

Allergies can change
My kiddo suddenly became allergic to fish and sesame this summer at 11.
Pollen allergies can change as well
Allergy tests need to be repeat
Also do they look like molluscum?

Not molluscum. Much smaller.

Look up dermatitis herpetiformis images. I was thinking my son had this.

I wonder if he could have psorasis.

In warmer weather I get a type of dermatitis on my hands that has tiny, uncoloured bumps, and itches intensely. They almost look like tiny, water-filled blisters. It is related to higher humidity. Unfortunately, only cortisone cream helps, and that only works moderately. Does this sound similar?

Dyshirotic excema

thanks for all the suggestions. His bumps are less fluid filled and aren't shiny. The bumps themselves almost look like tiny warts. We didn't even notice them until he pointed them out during his itching.

allergist does think the bumps on his hands are Dyshirotic excema, but the rest of it is hives. Just got off the phone with the nurse, who reported that his Anser results came back with "slightly elevated" antibodies. They didn't think it was high enough to be causing a reaction, but had the dr discussed adding methotrexate.

Now I'm a little more concerned. Anyone have any insight?

Once you have antibodies your body is fighting the med and the antibodies don't go away.
That said mtx helps makes the med more effective and is suppose to reduce the risk of antibodies increasing -I haven't read studies on it .
But practical exp here is once antibodies are found - the clock is ticking for stopping the meds
Hopefully not the case for your child
