    Stelara Frequency

So right now we're waiting on a full array of labs, including checking for mineral and vitamin deficiencies etc. Our new GI is offering her the option of EEN or budesonide as a bridge. Originally offered Prednisone as the option but I brought up budesonide and she said based on last scopes we...

    Stelara Frequency

Waiting on GI to see what options we have and a timeline for how long to wait for the reinfusion to work. H had it a week ago but still going downhill. Fatigue and pain is consistent. I wonder what the best choice would be after a failure of Humira and Stelara? If anyone wants to weigh in....

    Transfer to Adult Gi

No joke about Shingles! H had chicken pox at age 3 then Shingles while immunosuppressed - age 9 requiring anti-virals. I'm glad your family had a good experience moving to an adult GI. It's encouraging. Although our peds GI is a respected IBD specialist.

    H's Brother

Psoriasis is still an official diagnosis. But his switch to Stelara probably took care of that. The Alopecia was likely caused by the impetigo infection. His hair is regrouping with no new areas cropping up. Fingers crossed! He is not seeing the psychologist. I wish he would. I think next GI...

She did not get levels done. A year ago they were 11. But no idea of present levels.

    Stelara Frequency

H has had symptoms creeping back. Her calpro is around 1500. Being already at 90mg/4 week dosing Stelara the GI has opted to reinfuse. There is a little evidence for some success in adults, but not much yet for kids. It's relatively new as an option. So we'll see how it goes. She will be...

    H's Brother

To clarify he is on a Crohn's dosage of Stelara. The 90mg/8 weeks. Hasn't moved to 4 week dosing yet.

A quick update on C. He ended up having the worst impetigo infection on his scalp that the experienced dermatologist had ever seen. Had been misdiagnosed by the GP and a new derm which led to delayed treatment. Derm stated she sees these things crop up in kids on anti-tnf's at high...

Skyrizi Beats Stelara in Several Key Factors in Head-to-Head Comparison Trial

I see this in H's near future. It's interesting it works well after Stelara which also tackles the Il-23 pathway along with the Il-12. I wonder why?

    Significant looping during colonoscopy

    Great news! So encouraging!

    Significant looping during colonoscopy

Thank you. It was interesting to learn about. Surprising that it happens in so many colonoscopies.

    Significant looping during colonoscopy

I can't even picture what that means.

    Can kids inherit IBD

No known genetic diseases in our family. Seven children and 2 have Crohn's. I would say also that sometimes a person can have a genetic predisposition, but not a trigger to turn it on. I don't know why these 2 kids have it and the rest do not.

    Stelara Levels

H's level of 11 at q4 dosing was considered good but I wasn't told the range when she moved there from 8 week dosing.

    H's Brother

H did have a very mild case of psoriasis on her ear, scalp, and leg which disappeared when she was moved to Stelara. It was not diagnosed by a dermatologist, but she saw one not long afterward who from photos said it looked like psoriasis and she wasn't surprised it cleared on Stelara. Anyway...

He was taking 40mg weekly. But so far so good with Crohn's.

    H's Brother

C has been off of Humira for about a month. The Stelara infusion was Monday. His Psoriasis has really progressed this month. I wonder if that means the Humira had been helping him a bit with the psoriasis or if his levels are still high enough from Humira to be aversly affecting him - I...

    H's Brother

Our GI told us in no uncertain terms that he didn't agree with our decision to switch medications but he did sign off on it. I read some newer research that pointed to a 60% success rate in restarting an anti-tnf so I am leaning a bit heavily on that but hoping it doesn't come to that anytime...
