Undiagnosed child, with upcoming doctor's appointment- questions?

My son has/had some of the same symptoms as yours is expiriencing, however he's had these issues since he was a month old(he's 8 now), he's also had some bloody stools. My expirience is since diarrhea and costipation are so common with kids they don't really treat or see them for "just" those...

Blood in his stool this morn

I could ask his pedi to get a referral to an allergist but I kind of wanted his GIs input on the allergist (Plus the last allergist he saw I wasn't a fan of at all) He can be compliant but then he has this defiant streak and if he wants to do something he'll do it especially if I'm not watching...

Blood in his stool this morn

My gut feeling is he had the EoE plus something else lower in his gut, but he's not flaring or showing definitive signs of it yet (which I guess is what the biopsies showed, some issues in his colon but nothing to definitive to say it's IBD or it has to get worse) I just don't feel like...

Blood in his stool this morn

Well...still no call from the GI ughhh. The last 2 days he's complained of a stomach ache at night. :P idk maybe it's what he's eating...just wish he'd have a treatment plan so I feel like we're working on getting him better...

My stepson 11 has Crohn's loosing weight

I wouldn't say his mom doesn't care, she may be in a situation of not knowing how to get his flare under control. Sometimes flares are stubborn and can be very difficult to gain control of. First, dont quit steriods cold turkey. That can do a lot more harm, it can make his flare worse, cause...

Need Help with 5 year old who's Afraid to Potty - Blood with BM

I know a lot suggested maybe IBD, want to play devils advocate and ask the questions my son's GI asked me. when she passes blood, is it mixed within the stool or is it along the outside? Is it bright red or is it darker? unfortunately when it comes to blood and constipation the blood is usually...

Blood in his stool this morn

Well I received an email from his current GI, unfortunately little Z doesn't qualify to see the specialist because he has eosinophils in other areas of his digestive tract (it's not limited to his esophagus). I guess she was running a study on EoE... (?) I'm feeling confused and a little...

    Disease in rectum causes incontinence?

Oh and my GI isn't sure what else to do with me hence meeting with the surgeon (I'm allergic to remicade, can't raise the dose on the 6mp, on lialda, 6mp and humira)

    Disease in rectum causes incontinence?

I do have a GI. I've been seeing him a lot the past 2 years first to keep me in remission while pregnant then after I gave birth when I started flaring. I got c-diff a few months after birth and that threw everything off. I went through a round of steriods, felt great while on them, it's been...

    Disease in rectum causes incontinence?

Lol yeah I learned to never trust a far the hard way. The bloody, mucousy gas is a new symptom though. It started happening after I had my daughter 9 months ago.

    Disease in rectum causes incontinence?

I'm embarrassed to type this but one of my major issues is incontinence from my behind, not that I leak randomly but if I pass gas I also pass bloody mucous, if I get pain I know I have to be in the bathroom asap because I can't hold it. I used to think it was due to the fact that I had diarrhea...

    Thoughts please

I'm sorry he didn't do biopsies! You don't know what is going on at the cellular level. My son's scopes looked normal but on the cellular level he has eosinophils collected in his esophagus and colon as well as some other issues in his colon.

    Ear piercings while on Remicade/Prednsone/Imuran?

I didn't read your post however I've gotten a few piercings while on biologics and I don't have issues. The first thing is don't go to a mall store where they use a gun. It'll cause bruised cartilage and takes longer to heal. Also there is no true way to full clean and sterilize those guns. Go...

Blood in his stool this morn

Well the past couple of days he's been increasingly worried about how his stools have been (he's had diarrhea and loose stools) he also had trouble sleeping because his throat hurt. I found something online though, this organization gives kids capes and every time they go to the hospital for a...

Extreme pain at Humira injection site, any advice?

I am on humira so this is what helps me. -husband does the shot (if I do it I ease up/let go on the pen -attempt to distract him with something -let the pen sit out for half an hr to warm up -ice the area for awhile before and after the shot -pick a shot area with a lot of fat -make sure you're...

Blood in his stool this morn

Thank you! I really appreciate everyone who has helped me. I still have a ton of questions but they are more specific to him so I'll ask his new GI whenever we're able to meet her. What confuses me the most is his ascending colon is fine. The transverse and decending colon isn't fine(those are...

    Poop Question

If it happens every once in awhile I think it's no big deal but if it happens on a regular basis and very soon after eating then I think it's worth bringing up...especially if it's almost your entire meal. Ex- sandwich was eaten, 2 hrs later said sandwich was passed aND all or almost all parts...

Blood in his stool this morn

What is "normal" eos numbers in the lower GI? From what i understand his were elevated in his colon but not enough to diagnose an edig. Could the elevated eos and architectural disarray cause his diarrhea, painful bm and the waking to have a bm? (I just realized no one could really answer these...

Blood in his stool this morn

Should I ask him to be tested for celiac or is celiac a completly different issue? He had an allergy test done when he was 5 but I think I want to start all over and test for allergies again. will he always need to see an allergist and/or someone to treat the eoe? Can the allergies change? If so...

Blood in his stool this morn

Farmwife and my little penguin do you think you could help me understand EoE a little better? From what I understand it's an inflammatory response to an allergen either environmental or food. It's a chronic condition but if you can id the allergens and I'll imitate those then he wouldn't...
