    Feeling disappointed :(

Hi Hannah I'm still in Burma. The company I work for give us health care cover with Bupa, thank goodness. Only thing is, facilities are very poor in Myanmar so the international clinic sends patients to Bangkok if it's something serious. The hospital and the docs there are very good - I was in...

My story need advice about CT scan

Hi Tiffany Sorry to hear of your troubles. Sounds like you have put up with being unwell for a long time now, poor thing. I had symptoms pre diagnosis similar to yours. I lost a lot of weight because it hurt to eat and I was also throwing up several times a week. The CT scan is a good test so I...

    Feeling disappointed :(

Hi Hannah I remember you well and the struggles you were having. I'm so sorry to hear Crohn's has reared its ugly head again. I can also empathise. After 2 years of remission, I felt confident to come to Burma to work, but a year and a half later, I went to the doc with what I thought was a...

    Stomach feels hot

Does it feel hot when you touch the skin on the outside? That can be a sign of infection of some sort.

    PVT (Portal Vein Thrombosis)

Hi Debbie Thanks very much for the reply - and a big welcome to the forum. Yes it is very scary and to be honest, I am still trying to get my head round it. I live in Burma so had to be flown to Bangkok for treatment. Doctors there are lovely. They reckon the PVT is related to the Crohn's as...

Treatment of a small bowel stricture

I have a stricture at the site of my resection. In a mild flare at the moment so that is adding to the narrowing - GI said it was 6 -7mm at last colonoscopy. She's planning to do a balloon dilation at the next colonoscopy but is waiting to see if I can come off the Warfarin. I did notice that my...

    Concentration and memory issues

Hello Tuff and thanks for the reply. Do you think you will be on Warfarin for life? My docs are saying maybe only 3 - 6 months for the Warfarin, but it will depend on the blood test results at my next appointment. I am slightly less freaked out about it now - except when I am in taxis or trying...

    In hospital right now

Hi superdad. Sorry to hear that you are in hospital. The docs will be the best people to outline your options. I just wanted to wish you all the best and hope that they can get this sorted for you. Please keep us updated.

Question about abscess in genital area ( particularly ladies)!?!?

Hello there. Yes, abscesses/fistula are fairly common in the vaginal area. I think the best thing would be to see if you can get an appointment with your GI. Some people can actually see a small hole when it's a fistula and well get drainage from it. Otherwise, they will show up on an imaging...

    Genuinely scared

I had my last colonoscopy and an endoscopy in hospital in Bangkok with full sedation, which after 4 with only twilight in the UK in the space of 2 years, was a massive relief. They've never managed to get into my terminal ileum. Prior to resection, it was because I was too inflamed and, as they...

    Need some ideas!!

Oh I feel for you. I was admitted as an inpatient in Feb and they tried to give me Moviprep even though I was already vomiting. Just couldn't get enough of it down me. So they gave me enemas until I was clear. I was feeling so awful I cried! Don't think they do enemas for day patients though.

    Concentration and memory issues

Interesting. I had labyrinthitus for 4 months then 2 months later I had my first Crohn's flare. Brain fog is awful. I've never really got my memory back like it was before since being on Pred for 6 months. Dunno what to blame it on - the meds? the anaesthetics for various procedures? or just the...

    Coping with Crohns

Hi Shaun And welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It's a lot to get your head round. Try not to be too hard on yourself - how you are feeling is completely understandable and most of us on here can relate to it. Like Jaime says, listen to your body and take extra rest...

Coping with Crohn's - My story

Hi Ashlee Welcome to the forum. I can so relate to that relief followed by the realisation! I think when I was first diagnosed I kind of expected to be given a magic pill and get better really quickly once they knew it was Crohn's. Didn't realise that with most people, me included, it can take...

    Forum Newbie from Thailand (Crohn's)

Hi Karun Thanks for the offer - that's really kind of you. I go to Samitivej. My gastro is Dr Pitulak and for hematology Dr Parveena, both lovely and I have every confidence in them. Yes, Myanmar is fascinating and the people are lovely. But it's good to escape to Bangkok every now and again -...

    Ileocolectomy now what?

Hi Marksman Welcome to the forum. My experience has been fairly similar to yours. I first flared in 2010 and they eventually found I had a fistula from my bowel to my bladder so I had an ileocaecal resection. I was on Azathioprine when they decided to operate but took me off it. At my follow up...

    Forum Newbie from Thailand (Crohn's)

Hi Karun I'm just over the border from you in Myanmar - a Scot working here as a teacher. Spent 3 weeks in hospital in Bangkok in February cos of a Crohn's flare up with a major complication. Still going back every couple of months at the moment for check ups. Luckily I have health insurance...

    Stopping Pentasa

I'm in a mild flare at the moment. Put on Pentasa about 6 weeks ago and it seems to be working.

    I have a diagnosis!

Hello fellow Crohnie. The positive side of a diagnosis is at last being able to get/do things to get better. Be prepared for low days too as it all sinks in. The med thing is a toughie. After my resection, my gastro said no point being on maintenance as nothing had worked before. I was pleased...
