In Clinical remission without meds since last one year

I there. I think there are also a subset of people who are drug resistant, me being one of them. After my resection, I asked my GI about maintenance and he said nothing cos everything I'd been on had made no impact on the disease, just the symptoms.

    Yoga for body and mind?

Hello to you both. Yes, yoga is very good for body and soul. For beginners, i would say it's essential to find a class. You need to see how the positions are done and have a trained eye watch that you are doing them properly. Once you have some basics, you can start doing them on your own at...

    Traveling with Crohn's

Hello all. The wanderer returns!! Got my annual birthday notification and I'm home for Christmas so helllloooooooo.. I've missed you all. Sorry for being MIA and neglecting my monitor duties. Dodgy mobile Internet means I don't get on much. But I'm hoping to get fast Internet when I go back in...

Advice needed - stuck on waiting lists for scope in the UK

I would agree with all the sound advice above. The diagnosis waiting game can be very frustrating and worrying which of course can aggravate symptoms. I had a small bowel follow through to confirm if I had Crohn's or not, waited a few weeks after that then got a letter with an appointment to see...

    Happy New Year from Myanmar

Hello there. Back up in Yangon to visit friends, do a bit of shopping for the house and use the WiFi of course. My phone is now enabled for Internet so I should be able to get my emails on it and access the Net if really necessary. Am just about to load some pictures up to my profile of Yangon...

    Happy New Year from Myanmar

So how's everybody? I have just finished my first week's teaching and am in Yangon for the weekend staying with friends. The college is very run down but they have lulled out all the stops to turn the school library into a house for the Western teachers! And my students are wonderful. Very shy...

    Prednisone stomach acid

I had been on 40mg of Prednisolone when I was admitted to hospital for Crohn's complications. I hadn't been having gastro issues because of the pred but they prescribed Omeprazole to 'protect my stomach and lining' and were suprised it hadn't been prescribed before.

Humira and treatment for bowel to bladder fistula

I am trying to think, Tom, if there is anyone else on the forum who's had this type of fistula and had it heal with meds, but can't think of anyone. My fistula was in the small bowel. They were going to just remove that section and a small part of my bladder were the fistula was. But when they...

Humira and treatment for bowel to bladder fistula

Hi there and a very warm welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear that you are having issues with a fistula :-( I had a bowel to bladder fistula too and they tried to treat it with Azathioprine and Infliximab (Remicade). I did start to feel a lot better on the Remicade, but because they thought I had...

    Dietary preferences at the hospital?

I found it was really hard in hospital. My first stay was about 6 months after I was diagnosed and was on SCD as that was what was giving me the most relief from my symptoms. But caffeine was one of my biggest triggers and they didn't have decaffianted tea or coffee. I looked at the gluten free...

    Really bad headaches....

How long have you been on Azathioprine?

Diet after 7 months after smal bowel resection

Was your IC valve removed? That can cause issues with bile malabsorption. I find too much fatty food gives me cramps and the runs. And too much sugar.

Is decaffeinated coffee safe for you?

I'm in remission but still can't drink coffee or tea. Even the decaffinated versions upset me, so I stick to Redbush tea.

    Pain in the bladder??

I agree with the others, Joe. If you are worried and still in pain, ask if you can have some tests. Do you have any pee issues - urgency, burning, bubbly urine? I had an abscess and fistula to the bladder. My stomach in that area was swollen and hot to the touch and I would get horrible shooting...

    New to forum. .

Hi Cam And a great big welcome to the forum. I feel very sad reading your story. You have been through so much at a young age :-( I've not had an ileostomy myself but there are many here who have and I am sure they will be along soon. Sometimes the forum is quiet at the weekends.

    Brain Fog is Scaring Me

I entirely sympathise with you. I started a new job in a new field for me - accounting - a few months after I was diagnosed. I was on 40mg of Pred for 6 months along with 150g of Azathioprine, had 4 colonoscopies with sedation and then eventually the resection with general anaesthetic. I reckon...

    Anyone have ultra sound done?

Ultrasound was the first test I was referred for too but that was cos my GP thought I might have an ovarian cyst or such like ( had one operated on about 30 years ago. The radiographer told me that he couldn't see anything like that but that a section of my bowel wasn't pulsating like it...

    Bowels waking up after surgery

Wow, I am surprised they would let you go on like that for two weeks. I'd passed gas but no bowel movements 5 days after my resection so they gave me Movicol. I had a bowel movement about 2 mins after the first dose and didn't need any more after that. Made me wonder if there was a psychological...

    Possible fistula

Hi Loriann. Six years, that's a long time to go with no definitive answers. I had a bowel to bladder fistula and abscess and experienced similar symptoms to you. Do you suffer from UTIs? I had them constantly and just before they decided to operate, had started to pass what looked like food or...
