    Coffee tolerance question

I can't do caffeine either and decaffeinated upsets me too. But a friend put me on to Redbush tea - naturally decaffeinated and I'm fine with that.

How many have sinus issues, migraines etc

It's interesting what you say. When I was flaring very badly, I was having migraines very often and after keeping a food diary, realised that they were occurring when I had eaten sweet or yeasty foods like cake. These also aggravated my stomach pain and other symptoms.

Digestive Difficulties: Diet without a terminal ileum for cecum?

Hi Wallace. Sorry to hear you are having these issues. Since my resection, I have found that fatty foods and foods high in refined sugar cause me urgency and frequency issues, so I try to avoid. Several people on the forum also recommend psyllium husk as a natural remedy.

    FCP test

Sorry Amanda. Late home from work and just seen this post now, so probably too late for advice. Is it your local surgery or hospital you have to hand in the sample? I think I would phone the practice nurse or my IBD nurse and ask if refrigeration would affect the test negatively.

    Introducing myself. first post

Hey Jim A big warm welcome to the forum - glad you found us. It sounds like you have been having a pretty hard time of it :-( Quite unusual too that you don't feel like eating much on the Pred. A lot of people, myself included, ate like a horse. Are you on a high dose? I am just wondering if...

    Stomaness

:-) McCartney immediately springs to mind. Or maybe Ringo is more appropriate!

    Going to Prison

When I was in for one of my Infliximab infusions, there was a prisoner in too. I don't know if he was having Infliximab or iron, but he was chained to the chair and there were two G4S guards with him. They handcuffed him to one of the guards when he was leaving.

    Need your help please

Hi Oza86. Glad to hear the fistula op went well. It is quite common to be on a 'maintenance med' and Imuran/Azathioprine is often the drug of choice. Your story is quite unusual, because it is often the surgeon who says you don't need meds and the GI who says you do! The whole med issue is a...

    Stomaness

Hi Scott. I am saying Congratulations! on your new stoma because I am hoping that it will give you many years of relief and a new lease of life. Are you going to give it a name?? Sounds like you had pretty eventful time, but thanks for sharing your blog with us.

    Can Crohn's cause frequent urination?

Hi Everly. Sorry to hear you are having bladder issues :-( They are very frustrating, I know. With a fistula to the bladder, there are usually other symptoms - air bubbles in the urine or actually passing air when you pee, dark and/or nasty smelling urine being the main ones. I also had a lot of...

    My GI visit today

Poor you :-( I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. I can see why getting exercise must be really difficult. I wondered if you had tried yoga? It's aim is not necessarily weight loss, but since I started again, I have noticed that I am a bit more toned and it is definitely very good for...

Just diagnosed...don't know what to expect

Hi Shilpi And a very warm welcome from me too. I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but glad that you have found us and hope we can help. I think a useful thing to do before you see the specialist is to read up as much as you can about the disease. Also, have a read through some posts on the...

    Job uncertainty stress!

Hi Weatherwax I really feel for you. I work in Finance too and was diagnosed just prior to starting a new job. I explained this to them before I started as my then GI had just referred me to a hospital for surgery, I was waiting to go in for the pre-op assessment and I didn't want to spring this...

    Throat pain and starting prednisone

Hi Elizajp Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly :-( Pain on one side of the throat, it could be tonsillitis or something like that, that could be seen by a doctor just looking at your throat. I don't think there is such a big issue starting pred when you have an infection. It is mainly an issue...

    Scared about surgery

Spend time with friends and family til you have to go in. It will help to keep your mind off things. Listen to your favourite music and take some into the hospital with you. And remember, lots of people go through surgery and are fine. Good luck tomorrow and post when you can to let us know how...

    Skipping SCD intro?

I only did the intro for a couple of days because I don't like jelly, couldn't tolerate red meat when I was flaring and couldn't source the curd cheese in the UK, so it didn't leave me much to eat. The diet still gave me a lot of relief from symptoms.

    Scared about surgery

Hello there and a very warm welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear you are needing surgery and it is only natural to feel scared. Try not to worry too much about the pain. You will be given strong painkillers to control it and they will gradually wean you off them when you are ready. I would...

How often do you get your infliximab infusion in the uk

Hi there. I only had the three loading infusions, so can't answer your question but am just bumping your post. Did try posting it on the Remicade/Infliximab sub-forum too?

I'm Kat and I was diagnosed a month ago.

Hello Kat and a big welcome from me too. I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis but glad that it is mild and that diet is giving you some relief from symptoms. Good on your GP too for being so proactive. It can take a wee while to get on to the right treatment regime - sounds like they are...

Questions about UTI pain and infection in stool

Hi Jessika Yes I did have to have surgery, but it put me into lasting remission and relief from all the horrible symptoms. That was for an internal fistula, though. Your doc should be able to advise if you have a fistula or abscess. Sometimes they can see a fistula just by looking, or if not...
