    Alcohol and IBD

Hmm I don't have a problem with alcohol at all thankfully. Although I don't drink very much at all.

    New here

I love it, changed my life. No bad side effects to speak of so far in just over a year of being on it. I went to Mexico a week after my first infusion and gained a ton of weight and now have gained nearly 40 lbs of weight to get to healthy levels again. I have nothing but good things to say...

    Does red meat bother you?

No problems at all for me with red meat. I did at one time but since starting Remicade I can eat pretty much anything.

    Food tolerances

Oh don't get my wrong it still doesn't feel great  but it doesn't send me sprinting for toilets like I used to. I call it the McGurggles :D

    The goodness of Remicade

Congrats on the success with it. I felt similar last year when I started my Remicade in October. Just fantastic to eat what you like and not have to pay for it during the holidays.

    How long does it last

Well I was lucky enough to have mine work literally the night of my first infusion. I go about 7-7.5 weeks and just before my next I get sick for a few days until I get the next infusion. It's about time for me to reapply for funding so I'm going to see about getting funding for every 6-7 weeks...

    Questions about being diagnosed.

Don't worry they can still see it. Plus with the colonoscopy they took pictures of mine and I wasn't truly flaring at the time of my diagnosis either. The inflammation and ulcers or whatever applies to you will still be there if your flaring or not. A flare just means a time when your symptoms...

    Support needed!!

I was just studying for an exam before coming on here and well one of my exam questions I believe is going to be on osteoporosis. Along with the vitamin D/Calcium supplements (which work together), exercise is one of the best ways to maintain bone density and slow the effects of osteoporosis...

    Gday from Australia

Hey Luke Welcome to the forums here. I agree with others that there is no way you should be waiting anything out. I had scarring from healing "too quickly" in a bunch of areas in my intestines after starting Remicade and I was narrow in places. I had "surgery" to help it out but that consisted...

    New here

Hey there! Welcome to the forums here and sounds like you'll have a ton of experience to help all those out on here. Truly unbelievable you've raised kids through all that and definitely an amazing feat. Sorry for your recent troubles but it's fantastic you've got a great doctor now and that...

Stopping Remicade and Using stuff that didn't work at first

Understandable. Just need to ask though do you know what the potential risk increases by? I believe you go from 1 in 10 000 chance as a normal healthy person to 4 in 10 000. Edit: Here's an article on it. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/491337 My numbers were off by basically with...

    When on a flare....

I don't think anybody on here gets grossed out by poop talk anymore  I get very liquidy stool when I'm sick, don't think that's all that abnormal. I also get a lot of mucous stuff as well but I get that all the time now, flare or not. I also get a ton of blood when I flare which makes for...

    Remicade?!?!

Hey there welcome to the forums here. I've been on Remicade a little over a year now and it's done wonders for me. Usually doctors start with lesser drugs and work their way up unless you've got an extreme case like losing the 80 lbs rapidly. I was on Asacol, Imuran, Budesonide (because I...

    Introduction

Oh no I'm pretty much topped out haha. Been at the 160-165 for over a year now and that's probably the most I'll ever be.

    Introducing Myself

Really sorry about the bad run of luck there. Careful on the jumping to surgery option though I feel obligated to say. That's something you can't go back on and personally I'd like to exhaust all other options first but for some it works like tclark there. Quick question though is are you still...

    2 questions - (moved thread)

    1. I'm on Remicade as well as I saw you are with your intro thread. I can drink no problem although I don't do it to to often. I did go to Mexico all inclusive a week after starting Remicade and well with free drinks from when you wake up to when you finally go to bed I had a little bit of...

    Introduction

Hey there welcome to the forums. Glad the Remicade worked and the recovery went well. I finally put on weight for the first time in my life after going on Remicade and I'm pretty excited about my 5'11, 160 lbs

Stopping Remicade and Using stuff that didn't work at first

Not so sure about the going back to meds that previously didn't work but a guy I was getting my infusion beside the other day was in the process of weaning off the Remicade and he said he hadn't had issues. As long as your doing so with the guidence of a DR. I'd think you'll be okay. Is...

    Flaring - what is it?

Everybody covered that pretty well already but yes a flare is basically anytime where you have a prolonged period of time where the symptoms are worse than what is normal. Sometimes the symptoms are so severe they require ER trips and sometimes they are as "mild" as some extra trips to the...

    Cannot sleep again

I've been on it a year I've been on Remicade and have insomnia probably 4 or 5 nights a week. It's 4:30 here and still haven't slept, this was the case last night too. I'm not so sure it's from Remicade though, I've had this problem ever since I was diagnosed with Crohn's 4 years ago.
